Speaking before over 300 members of the township group at the Hensail and district community centre Ross Daley host of CFPL TV’s “This business of farming” paid tribute to the farmers of Huron saying it was the support at the grass roots level which made the county group so successful in the provincial organization. Daley said many county federations would be hard pressed to have the size of gathering which the Hay- Stanley group had in at tendance. “I’m extremely impressed with the turnout,” Daley added. One of the problems of farmers is that they fail to congratulate themselves enough on the job which they do, he said. Following his address Daley gave a slide show on the various facets which go into the production of his show. President of the township federation Jake Van Won- deren of Varna said farmers should pay more attention to promoting themselves such as the major food retailers and processors do. According to Van Won- deren “We have to tell the people our side of the story.” Merle Gunby, president of the Huron federation congratulated Hay and Stanley on the good turnout and said the OFA is “doing a terrific job” of promoting the farmers’ interests.
