WILLIAM ROHDE THAMES ROAD The postponed meeting of the United Church Women was held Monday evening with 19 ladies present. The meeting opened with* singing “Love Divine”. Mrs. Donald Bray read the Scripture followed by a reading “From Now On” by Mrs. Gerry Morgan. Mrs. William Rohde led in prayer. Mrs. Reg Hodgert and Mrs. Donald Bray received the offering and Mrs. Morgan offered prayer. Mrs. Reg Hodgert gave a reading “The Rights of a Child”. Mrs. Reg Hodgert in­ troduced the guest speaker. Kotaro Watanabe of Exeter who talked on geography and culture of Japan. He was very interesting. Mrs. Morgan thanked Kotaro and presented a gift. Mrs. William Rohde open­ ed the business part of the meeting with a poem. “Magic of a Friend”. The usual business was taken care of. It was men­ tioned that members were invited to Elimville for the World Dav of Praver, March 2 at 2 P.M. The ladies are catering to the Oddfellows Friendship Night Banquet on March 17 and to the Curling Banquet on April 21. both at South Huron Rec Centre. It was decided to have the annual strawberry and ham supper, Monday, June 18. It was decided to sponsor the foster child for another year. Mrs. Rohde gave several flashes for the Stewardship and Finance Committee in the absence of Mrs. Ross Hargreaves. The meeting was closed with the singing of “A Creed to Sing About” and Mrs. Brinsley By GORDON MORLEY A good crowd was in at­ tendance at Brinsley United Church Sunday for a congregational dinner meeting which followed the regular worship service. After an excellent meal, Peter Snell conducted the business meeting during which the various reports for 1978 were presented and approved. The congregation recognized the efforts of all the church officials and leaders during the past year, and it was suggested that the success of the charge was due to a spirit of dedication and co-operation among all members of the church, Scott Prest returned home from the hospital last week. April Hodgins has been staying with her grand­ parents Mr. & Mrs. Jim Morley since Thursday. Darlene Daley, David Lee and Tom Ryerson were competitors in the McGillivray Home and School public speaking held recently in the school. Rohde closed with payer Group W under the leadership of Mrs Fdwm Miller and the hostess Mrs John Pym served lunch After church. Sunday the ladies met and decided that each lady of the V C W would bring a tea towel for a kitchen shower for Camp Menestung at Goderich to the March meeting Mr. and Mrs. Patterson. Palmerston are coming as guests to the March meeting They are head of the Goderich Camp. 4-H Club Hurondale 1 started their spring program for “Accessories The Final Touch”, February 5 at the home of Janet Bray. Brenda Ballantyne con­ ducted the election of of­ ficers namely president Diane Ballantyne, vice- president Ruth Bray; rotating secretary, press reporter Jackie Riehl. Janet Bray told the group about our club requirements what types of accessories we could make. Brenda Ballantyne show­ ed a color wheel and how to mix primary colors and get secondary colours. The group had to find out their basic colors for clothing. The girls had to -find out what different basic outfits looked best for their figure type and types of clothing and accessories and colors the various figure types could wear. Fellowship Group Thirty-three people attended the Fellowship Group meeting Sunday even­ ing. The program commenc­ ed with a sing song. Mrs. Elson Lynn gave a reading “Living A Simpler Life” and also a prayer, “Prayer of a Blackfoot Indian”. Jack Stewart introduced Dr. Don and Mrs. Ecker, Exeter who showed pictures and gave a commentary of their work last summer at Hazelton, British Columbia which was very interesting. Mr. Ross Hargreaves thanked the Eckers and presented them with a che­ que. Mrs. John Pym, Miss Agnes Bray, Mrs. Jack Stewart and Mrs. Edwin Miller served lunch. Personals Gerry Riehl returned home from St. Joseph’s Hospital, Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Hodgert and Mr. and Mrs. Barry J. Miller holidayed at Florida last week. Mr. Ross Hargreaves attended a school of Theology in Toronto. Mrs. Hargreaves spent the week with her family. Also visiting another aunt, Mrs. Eileen White, in Detroit, and in Harrow with Mrs. Adams mother and sister, Mrs. Vera Collie and Mr. & Mrs. Jim Murray. Mr. & Mrs. Clyde Nicholson, of Courtright, just home from a five week holiday in Texas, visited here Sunday with her father and sisters, Mr. Herbert Harlton, Dorothy Harlton, Mrs. Mabel Guenther and Karen. Gail Brady of Welland spent the week end in Exeter 1 with her cousins, Mr. & Mrs. Jim Campbell, Kim and Kelly. Visitors during the week end with Mr. & Mrs. Ken Baker Sr. were, Nancy Baker of Kitchener and Mr, & Mrs. Tony Regier, Christopher and Heather of Detroit. Mr. & Mrs. Don Baker and Jamie visited with Mr. & Mrs. Ken Baker Jr. and girls of Stratford. Melvin Greb, attended the funeral Saturday, of his sister-in-law Mrs. Ervin (Hattie May) Greb, at Preston. Mr. & Mrs. Garson Brady of Welland spent the week end with Mr. & Mrs. Milton Sweitzer. Mrs. Elsie Comfort of Welland and Mrs. Sylvia Holloway, of St. Catharines who have been holidaying here for three weeks with Mrs. Doris Sweitzer, returned home, Sunday with them.
