There appears to be a number of people in Exeter who do not know how to read, so hopefully their friends, neighbours or in some cases children will read them this letter. On the other hand' some people are able to read, but think if they tear down a sign or run over it with their snowmachine that it never existed. Last Monday afternoon I decided to ski from River side Park on the south side of the river to Morrison Dam and back on the north side. At one point I had to fall on purpose because I was going down a hill so quickly and was losing control of my skis due to the ice con ditions which had been You want it to be a perfect wedding? The pleasant afternoon I had anticipated was ruined due to the poor ski conditions which were brought about by trespassing snowmobiles. When I reached home I phoned the Ausable- Bayfield Conservation Authority to see if my imagination was playing tricks on me — was there really a cross country ski trail on the north and south side of the river as I thought there was to have been. The answer was yes there is a cross-country ski-trail on both the north and south side of the river.. I asked about the easement for the ski trail — was there to be snowmobiling on the private property where the easements were allowed — the answer was no. Therefore the snowmobiles that are on those properties as well as in the conservation property where skiing is designated are trespassing. Snowmobilers — there are trails groomed in the area to snowmobile such as Hay swamp and the Pineridge Chalet and I’m sure if you phoned the conservation authority they will give you the other areas close by where you may snowmobile. Besides ruining the trails for the many cross-country skiers in Exeter you are wasting your own tax dollars by destroying trails which have to be regroomed and reposting the signs that you tear down.
