The Marauders were held to a 5-5 tie by Kettle Point and were thunped 11-1 by the Zurich Buckeyes. The Centralia club will be back in action Thursday night when they meet the Hensall Sherwoods at the Huron Park arena at 8:30 p.m. In the Centralia-Kettle Point contest with first one team and then the other tak­ ing short lead. Centralia jumped into a 2- 0 lead in the first period. Mark Cronyn notched the first goal on a pass from Matt Muller and captain Ron Funston followed with a succesful shot on a play set up by Eldon McCutcheon and Matt Muller. Kettle Point bounced back with three quick goals early in the second period to move in front. Before the middle frame was terminated Centralia added goals three and four. At 17:05 Ron Funston hit the mark on a pass from Matt Muller and with only 45 seconds left Muller scored with assists going to Mark Cronyn and Ron Funston. Blair Hearn scored early in the third period on passes from Bill Hodge and goalie Rick Snell to give Centralia a two goal lead. Kettle Point came back with a pair of goals in the third period to garner the tie. Referees Harry Moir and Carl Nickles handed out 11 minor penalties. Six went to Kettle Point. The only Centralia score in the 11-1 loss to Zurich came from the stick of Ron Funston on passes from Bill Hodge and Rick Funston early in the third period. Pat Bedard, Glenn Overholt, Ken Smale and Rick Schilbe each scored three times to pace the Zurich scoring attack. Scor­ ing in single fashion were Pete Postil. John Graham and Mike Clarke. Monkton, the defeated team in Saturdays: games was unable to return Sunday to meet Zurich in the final. The championship contest has been rescheduled for Sunday night, February 10 at 8 p.m, at the Huron Park arena. As the tournament is of the two loss variety, a Zurich win overMonkton would force a second game to be played later the same night. Other teams in the tourney were from Hensall Blyth, and Huron Park. The winner will advance to OMHA playoffs. Zurich proved to be the comeback team of the series. After losing the first game 3- 2 to Blyth in overtime, Zurich bombed Huron Park 20-0, edged Blyth 2-1 and defeated Hensall 6-1 to ’ qualify forlhe final/ ’• In other games Monkton blanked Huron Park 24-0, Hensall edged Blyth 2-1 and Monkton downed Hensall 3-2. Hensall2 Blyth 1 Two first period goals held up to allow Hensall to beat Blyth as goalie Stephen Bedard turned in a steady performance. The first period was only a minute and 20 seconds old when captain Ian Munroe scored on a pass from David Skea. Skea made the score 2-0 on a three-way effort with Calvin Stanlake Lovekesh Malik. Doug Craig was the only Blyth marksman early in the third period. Zurich 20 Blyth 0 Bob Snell, Dean Arm­ strong, Gerry Smith and Mark Boogemans scored three goals to the Zurich victory. Notching two goals were Bryan Kading, and each pace each w, Rick Kuepfer and Doug Schade. Adding singles were Dan Creces and Darcy Martin. Zurich 2 Blyth 1 The second Zurich-Blyth game started out similar to the first with Zurich scoring early, but this time Blyth couldn’t catch up. Dean Armstrong scored on a solo dash for Zurich at six minutes of the first period. Midway through the third period, Darcy Martin fired NitersDoublers, again in deadlock The fierce battle for first place in the Exeter Legion mixed dart league continues. The Itchy Niters and Doublers are again tied for first place with 65 points apiece. The Winklers are in third place with 63 points and the DR’s and the DR’s and Flying Highs are deadlocked with 58 points apiece. The Sassenachs are next at 56, the Out of Space have 54 , Family Affair 50 and the CB’ers 49. Next come the Scotties at 48 points, the Outlaws have 44, the Sabres and Nicky Tams are even at 42, the Shiphunters have 37, the Canscotts 35 and the Chances complete the standings with 33 points. Zurich6 Hensail 1 Dean Armstrong turned in a hat trick effort to lead the Zurich scoring. Rick Kuepfer scored twice and Dan Creces added the odd goal. Hensail’s lone score came from the stick of Lovekesh Malik on passes from Jeff Caldwell and David Skea. They are six points out of the last playoff spot with six games remaining in the schedule. The Lucan-Ilderton club will be in Stratford tonight. Wednesday to take on the Perths again. Thursday they will be at the London Gardens to meet the London Kings and Sunday afternoon they will be at home at the Ilderton arena at 2 p.m. to take on the Woodstock Athletics. In Sunday's contest, the Jets were able to stay on even terms at 1-1 with Strat­ ford for only the first period. The Perths upped their lead to 4-2 in the second frame and outscored the Jets 3-1 in the final 20 minutes of play. Tim Heinbuch with a two goal effort was the top scorer for Stratford. Scoring in single fashion were Graham Snyder, Jim Betts, Dan Seguin. Dave Ferrede and Darryl Thrasher. Ian McTavish notched the first period 1-1 score on a three-way effort with Greg Roberts and Brian Murphy. The second period Jets score came from the stick of Dave Revington with assists going to captain Barry Baynham and Brian Murphy. The final Jets score came at 2:02 of the third period on a successful shot by Bruce Reddick on a power play. Baynham and Revington assisted. Lome Daer in goal for the Jets faced 37 shots while his mates fired 39 shots at Tom Ruston at the other end of the rink. Referee Phil Jones meted out a total of 15 minor penalties. The Jets were assessed five of that amount. Bruce Reddick and Ed Parkinson each scored two goals in Friday’s losing cause against Petrolia. Brian Murphy added the odd counter.
