WILLIAM ROHDE ' THAMES ROAD About 40 people partook of the pot luck smorgasbord dinner following the morning church service, Sunday. After the dishes were finished the annual congregational meeting took place. Mr. Ross Hargreaves was elected as chairman and Mrs. John Pym as secretary for the meeting. Mrs. Pym read the mintues of last year’s meeting. Mrs. Glenn Jeffery was appointed as Clerk of Session in place of John Pym who will be retiring at the end of the coming year. The elders are Mrs. Jeffery, Mrs. Donald Bray, Mrs. Glen Stewart, John Pym, Ross Hodgert and Barry Jeffery. Lome Ballantyne and Barry E. Miller were elected to the Board of Stewards; Glen Lamport, Ted Kernick, Ross Ballantyne and William Johns are the other Stewards. Arnold Cann and William Rohde are the retiring stewards. Reg Hodgert and Rick Parker were named as the examiners. Mrs. Edwin Miller is the Mission treasurer and Service for the charge Miss Ruth Skin-replacing ner. Bob Hume of the Invitation Committee for the Cen­ tennial 1981 reported. Mrs. Gordon McCarter is the secretary treasurer. Barry Jeffery, chairman and Mrs. Glen Stewart, secretary of the History Committee reported. It was reported that the Centennial Committee would meet with the people who have or would like to donate to the Clandeboye 4-H elect Clandeboye 4H Club No. 1 held their first meeting at the home of their leader Mrs. John De Weerd. There are fifteen members. Election of officers was held with Cheryl Lynn as president; secretary, Christine De Weerd; treasurer, Catherine Lynn; press reporter, Janet Gilmour. The project is “Essential Edibles’ ’. The girls will learn to cook with metric measurements. A quiz was conducted on the Canada Food Guide and they were shown how to make Grandla. Misses Barbara Miller and Mary Ann Laine, Guelph spent the weekend with Mr. & Mrs. Edwin Miller. Mrs. Lloyd Stewart, Grand Bend visited one day last week with Mrs, Hazel Jef­ fery. The sympathy of the community is extended to Mrs. Dick Etherington and family in the sudden passing last week of her husband and their father the late Dick Etherington. Help your Heart... Help your Heart Fund 0 By MRS. ROBERT LAING The Rev. Kenneth Knight was chairman for the annual meeting of Cromarty Presbyterian Church and opened it with scripture and prayer. Mrs. Robert Laing was elected secretary for the meeting. The annual reports of the following groups were given and approved; Session, Ladies’ Aid, Women’s Missionary Society, Marian Ritchie; Evening Auxiliary, Cemetery Board, Trustee Board, Cradle Roll,, Sunday School, Church Treasurer, and Cromhenex. During the year, there was one baptism, one wedding, and three deaths in the congregation. Five members have removed their cer­ tificates; 21 joined the church by profession of faith and one by transfer. There are 164 members on the church roll, 18 of whom are non-residents. The cemetery board was commended for its part in having an attractive cairn erected at each of the two cemeteries belonging to the church. It was also noted that Norway Maple trees had been planted at the cemetery in Cromarty.
