Favorites
are beaten
By PAUL WRAITH
In this weeks Lucan rec
league games the two
favourites, Reds and
Yellows, were defeated; the
Reds 5-3 by the Greens and
the Yellows 6-5 by the Blues.
The Yellows blew a 4-0
first period lead as the Blues
continued on their winning
ways three wins and one tie
in their last five games). In
the first period the Yellows
opened with a commanding
4-0 lead on two goals by Mike
Wraith and singles by Aaron
Appleman and Bill Darling.
However, fate struck
halfway through the first and
the second when Chris
Mouratzen, Don Lankin and
Scott Anderson scored for
the Blues to make the score
4- 3. In the third period the
Blues outscored the Yellows
3-1. Bill Car nochan gave the
Yellows a 5-3 lead early in
the period but again the
Blues fought back on goals
by Russ Radcliffe, Bill
Boshart and the winner by
Rick Thomas. The Yellows
attempt to tie the game by
pulling the goalie failed in
the dying seconds of the
game.
Aaron Appleman, Don
Lankin and Chris Mouratzen
were the 3 stars.
The Greens playing with
only eight players defeated
the league leading Reds by a
5- 3 score. The Reds had not
lost in their last 11 games
until this week and the
Greens were the last team to
beat them, 2-1, October 29. In
the first and second periods
the Greens did all their
scoring.
Don Murray paced the
Greens with two goals and
singles were added by Gary
Miller, Gord Moon and John
Prefontan. The Reds
threatened in the third as
they scored three goals by
John Pollard, Andy
and Brad Taylor.

Continuing the series
“Follow me” this time “In
Real Worship” Rev. Keith
Brown asked three
questions. “What is real
worship?”, “How would God
have us fulfill our obligation
to Him (through worship),”
and “Are there things you do
not always understand in the
service?”
We should go to church to
worship God, not to hear the
minister. “And Jesus went to
the synagogue as was His
custom on the Sabbath day.”
Jesus would have us follow
his example, attending
public worship each Sunday,
as an aid to the believer.
Our services of worship
are based on Isaiah 6:1-9
through praise, confession,
adoration, commission,
response and dedication. Mr.
Brown said “Our response to
God’s plan should be the high
point in the service as we
give ourselves to God for the
next week”,
The responsibility of our
work should compel us to
“real worship” and our
worship, if genuine, will
motivate us and enable us to
work and serve effectively.
