Hensall overcame a three- goal deficit against Goderich and then turned around and blew a two-goal lead of their own in the high-scoring affair in the county town. Goderich led 6-3 in the second, but Hensall came back with five straight goals to take an 8-6 margin into the final stanza, only to have Goderich pot two. Gary Koehler and Larry Bourne paced the attack with a pair of tallies each for the Sherwoods, with the singles being fired by Al Taylor, Jim Ferguson, Brian Campbell and Bill Chip­ chase. Chipchase contributed a pair of assists as did Wayne Corbett, Brian Campbell and Gary Kyle, while helping out on one goal each were Lloyd Allan, Bourne and Greg Campbell. Hensall scored twice on power plays as Goderich picked up five minors and the visitors had three. Good third period Playing at home, Friday, the Sherwoods scored four unanswered goals in the third period to beat Parkhill in their second South Huron outing of the week. farkhill led 3-1 late in the second period, but couldn’t hold th? margin. Larry Bourne was again a two-goal man for the Sherwoods as was Rick Ingram, The singles were registered by Jim Ferguson and Lloyd Allan. Dwight Consitt and Gary Kyle picked up a pair of assists each to lead in that department, while helping out on one tally each were Wayne Corbett, Gary Koehler, Ferguson, Al Knight, Ingram, Brian Campbell and Allan. Riley, vice-grand, presided at the meeting on Wednesday evening when “Secret pals” were revealed and exchanged gifts. Mrs. Riley reported for the C.P.T. committee. Twenty- one baskets of fruit and treats were delivered to shut-ins at Christmas. A receipt was received from the Children’s Shelter for a donation at Christmas also an acknowledgement from Eric Luther for the assistance in the canvass for the C.N.I.B. Owing to weather con­ ditions this wds the first meeting of the new year and thank you notes were received also many Christmas cards from the district lodges. Mrs. Isobel Rogerson presided at the piano in the absence of Mrs. Evelyn McBeath. Following the closing of lodge the exchange of gifts with secret pals took place followed by a social hour in the lower hall. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Hazel Corbett, Mrs. Margaret Consitt, Mrs. Vera Lemmon and ' Mrs. Vera Smale. Lodges hold Euchr.e Party The C.P.T. committees of the IOOF and Rebekah Lodges held a very suc­ cessful euchre party in the local hall on Friday evening with eight tables playing. Prize winnners were as follows; ladies’ high, Mrs. Vera Lemmon; ladies’ consolation, Mrs. Bert Horton; gent’s high, Gary Beaver; gent’s consolation, Bob Parsons;' lone hands, Bert Horton. Lunch was served by Mrs. Hazel Corbett, Mrs. Ruby Bell, Mrs. Elizabeth Riley, Jack Upshall, Eric Man­ sfield. • Lucky prizes on a draw were won by Ward Haney, Seaforth; Hazel Corbett and Mrs. R. Parsons. Eric Mansfields was master of ceremonies. The group will hold another euchre on February 9. Everyone is welcome. Please keep the date in mind. Hensall United Church Rev. D.L. Howlett of the Bible Society conducted service in Hensall tUnited Church on Sunday, the sermon was “The Sacred Responsibility of Sowing the Seed.” The choir under the direction of Mrs. Marianne McCaffreysang “Alleluia”. Rev. T. Garnett Husser accompanied at the organ. The annual meeting of the congregation will be held on Wednesday January 31 beginning with a pot luck supper at 6.30 p.m. The Chiselhurst church annual meeting of the congregation will be held February 2 beginning with a pot luck supper at 6.30 p.m. Welcomes New Resident The Queensway Nursing Home, Hensall, welcomes a new resident, James McDougall. Church service was conducted on Tuesday by Rev. Don Forrest of Exeter, with Mrs. Louise Mitchell accompanying at the piano. Visitors with Russell Erratt were his wife Pearl; Bill, Helen and Kathy Taylor and Jack Upshall. Mrs. Susan Purdy visited with her husband, Len Purdy. John Hoelscher visited his wife Florence. Alice Rozendal was visited by her husband, Don. Ray and Willa Wuerth visited Mrs. Lou Wuerth. Leslie Mitchell visited his mother Mrs. Louise Mit­ chell. The Presbyterian Church ladies visited the residents with treats and played bingo with them. Carmel Church Rev. Kenneth Knight conducted worship in Car­ mel Presbyterian church on Sunday. The sermon subject was “No Condemnation”. The annual congregational meeting will be held Thur­ sday January 25 at 8 p.m. Members are cordially in­ vited to attend this meeting. A group of volunteers will be calling on the residents of Hensall and Kippen during the two weeks of February 10-24. Tickets will be sold for a draw on one large and one small, red velvet, heart- shaped cushion. The cushions, made and donated by Mrs. Noakes, will be on display in Bonthron’s Fur­ niture Store. Draw for first and second prizes will be made on February 24. It is the hope of the Foun­ dation that the residents will respond generously when a convasser calls. All proceeds of the canvass and draw will be donated for research into heart disease.
