'Twas the night before
Christmas, when poor Johnny
had a dream. He woke up in the
morning, ran downstairs to see
what he got for Christmas,
because he wanted a new bicycle
badly. To his surprise there
wasn't even a Christmas tree! He
walked down the street, and saw
some men at work, building a
house. Johnny shouted, "Why are
you working on Christmas
morning ?" The. men said,
"Christmas, Whats Christmas?",
and they went back to work.
Everyone was just working like a
normal day. Johnny ran home.
He heard his mother calling him
to get up. He woke up to find it
was only a dream. Johnny went
downstairs, and his new bike was
sitting under the Christmas tree.
He told his father about his
dream. Johnny's father said "If
Jesus wasn't born there wouldn't
be a Christmas and no time to
show friendship. So Johnny went
Upstairs and prayed to God, for
Jesus being born, and thanked
him for the time he gave for

It was the night before
Christmas. The Cook family were
all asleep except Peter. He was
putting up his big red stocking by
the fireplace. He was looking up
the chimney for Santa Claus but
he wasn't there yet. Peter
decided to sleep on the couch, He
finally got to sleep. Then
something clattered on the roof
like somebody was on it. It came
down the chimney it came it was
Santa Claus. He saw Peter
sleeping on the couch so he tip-
toed with his pack on his back.
Silently he went to the Christmas
tree. After he put the presents
under the tree he filled the
stockings. Then he went up the
chimney he rose, Next morning
Peter got up and opened all his
toys, Peter said to his mom and
Dad, this is the Merryist
Christmas I ever had.

Father calls me William.
Sister calls me Will.
Mother calls me Willy.
But the feller's call me Bill.
I got me a racoon from June.
But I hate it when Grandma
' feeds him prunes.
She makes me take a bath on
Saturday morn.
But I'd rather run away and husk
the corn.
BUT!! Just Fore Christmas I'm
as Good as I can be!
(So St, Nick will give lots of
presents to me!)
Soon they went back to sleep.
As soon as John got up to go to
work, Mary said, "John I didn't
sleep well last night. I kept
hearing footsteps."
"Come on Mary you know that
those sounds were only your
imagination playing
"John was cut off because of
the noise coming frOm the
children's bedroom. Mary and
Jim went upstairs. Just as John
opened the door, he saw a red
jacket swing into the closet,
"Cathy, Jeff and Janet," he
said, "why was that red jacket
flying into the closet?"
"Oh, Dad," said Janet, "We
Were just playing a game to see
Who could, er, urn, get it on the
hanger."
John walked out of the room.
Janet said, "Soy I'm glad that
I had a red jacket or else I would
have to tell what we were really
doing,"
That night John and Mary
heard creeking and footsteps
again.
Next morning Mary noticed
that some jam, bread and
cookies were missing.
"Am," she said, "I wonder
who is our little pack rat? I've
also noticed the children being
awfully quiet.'
That night Mary felt eyes on
her as she turned out the lights to
go to bed.
The next morning the paper
was gone and more food had
disappeared. soon Mary had
noticed that a glass and
silverware had disappeared.

The colourful ornaments
sparkled last night. As I looked
out the window the snow was
softly falling. It looked so
beautyful. While the colourful

Calling of the snow,
As the newborns grow,
When the wind goes,
The birds fly south.
The snow comes,
For the children keep warm,
Then you know its winter for all.
For the night before Christmas,
The stars are so bright,
As the little ones try to sleep that
night.
When John got home Mary
said, "Tonight I'm staying up to
catch our prowler."
Tick, tack, tick, tack, tick,
tock, the clock went. It was now
2:45 a.m, and Mary was about to
go to sleep when someone came
out from hiding. John came
downstairs and flicked on the
light,
Then they both yelled a
questioning yell of, "Santa
Claus?"
The kids were running down
the stairs and said, "I guess you
found out."
"Before you do anything else:"
said Santa Claus, "I want to tell
you why I'm here. You see I was
watching T.V. in my house when
a blinding storm came up and
ruined part of my house.
I came here and met your
children. After me telling this
story to them they Said I could
use whatever I wanted and when
I went for some things I did
make some noises So here I
am,"
"How long will it be until your
house is fixed?" John asked.
Santa answered, "About two
more days from now."
"Well," said John, "you can
stay here as long as you like on
one condition, that you bring lots
of toys to our place,"
Santa said, "I will; Don't
worry I Will.
As Santa left next day to get
the Christmas presents, he said,
"Good-bye,"
John answered, "See you
soon!"

On Christmas Eve a long time
ago,
Santa had all the presents ready
to go,
The elves helped Santa remember
his route,
And even helped him put on his

Santa threw his pack on his back,
And hoped that he would soon be
back.
He got in his sleigh and set all the
toys down,
And away the reindeer went with

Santa was now at his very first

He said to himself "I better not

He slipped down the chimney

And then got out a present for all

On Christmas eve a long time ago
BY KATHY SCHADE

There are two sides to
Christmas. The first and most
important area is the religous
one. This has to do with the
coming of the baby Jesus in
Bethlehem. The other side is
mainly focused on the eve when
Santa arrives.
Today we tend to centre our
Christmas ideas on Santa. Most
stories you read have to do with
the jolly old, elf. Everywhere
you look you see. You know who.
The magazines, newspapers,
Christmas cards, colouring
books, and window showcases
are mostly dominated by
pictures of Santa. Frosty The
Snowman, Rudolph etc. Why not
call december 25 "Santamas"?
It would seem much more
appropriate.
At this time of year we
decorate our house with gaily
coloured lights. This represents
the bright light the star gave off
as it shone down on Bethlehem.
We give and receive, gifts the
three wisemen gave the baby
Jesus. But this is not enough!
This year let's all try to put
Christ back into Christmas.
