Tongue cited
as problem
At Lucan United Church,
Sunday morning, Rev. Keith
Brown continued his series on the
book of James, basing his sermon
on "The Problem of the Tongue."
He told the members of the
congregation that we all bear a
terrible responsibility for the use
of our tongue which usually
reveals our hidden spiritual
condition. Satan has no more
effective implement than the
'unbridled tongue and we should
guard our remarks by three
questions; is it true - is it
necessary - is it kind? If we
cannot answer yes to all three we
should be silent.
Profitable ways in which to use
our tongues would be to bear
Christian witness of God's
goodness Now and to be in-
struments of His faith and
goodness.
Under 'the direction.. of the
organist, Helen Brown, the choir
sang "0 Love How Deep, . ." by
Webb.

The guest speaker was Don

Division C.C.S, and the manager
of C.F.R.B. radio station Toronto,
He gave a very stirring address
which he titled "Coping with
Cancer'.'
"We are involved with people"
said the speaker. "We may build
handsome lodges for cancer
patients but without people this is
meaningless. To you the
volunteer thoughtful work will
provide self fulfillment beyond
anything you have ever felt."
"There never has been more
need in this society for volunteer
service than today. There is a
new challenge which deals with
the relationship with people with
terminal cancer to allow children
to visit the dying patient. Zero in
on the lives of the terminal
patients, The professional group
in relationship with family and
relatives is being reviewed by the
medical committee in our own
Cancer Society" said Mr, Inslay
and in closing he recited the
poem "I shall pass this way but
once".
The entertainment was
provided by the London Scottish
Country Dancers.
