required in determining:
• the allocation of education property taxes between the public and
separate school systems:

local tax bills:
• the preparation of jurors' lists: and
• population information needed for other municipal programs.
The enumerator must record such information as the name, age, property

Swimmers take all three zone trophies
Members of the Exeter swim
team chose the name
"Barracudas" for themselves
recently, but as the results of
Saturday's regional meet in-
dicated, the name "Octopuses"
would have been more ap-
propriate.
It would have at least given the
swimmers some extra arms to
carry home the awards they
garnered in the Exeter pool in the
Lake Huron Zone final.
When the final statistics were
tabulated, the Barracudas had
picked up the boys' team trophy,
the girls' team trophy, the overall
trophy and three individual
medals as well,
They finished with 4001,2 points,
compared to the 331 picked up by
second place Goderich. Elmira
ended up with 3001,2, followed by
Kincardine and St. Marys with
1591 2 and 1271 2 respectively.
Goderich took an early lead in
the meet after the medly and
freestyles events, but by the end
of the backstroke division, the
Barracudas had moved ahead by
20 points and they kept adding to
their margin through to
the final freestyle relay event.
It was the third time in the past
four years that Exeter had won
boys' and overall team trophies,
while it was the first time the
girls had managed to win their
division,
Capturing individual medals as
champions in the various age
categories were the team's two
eight and under swimmers,
Elizabeth Cottrell and Brett
Batten, along with Brenda
Waldeck, who topped the 10 and
under girls,
Three local swimmers also
ended up in the runnerup position
in the medal hunt. Bill Glover and
Scott Batten tied for that spot in
the 12 and under division while
Danette McLeod was the run-
nerup in the 14 and under girls,
despite the fact she was swim-
ming with a sore shoulder.
Elizabeth Cottrell had a perfect
21 point score in her eight and
under division to easily win that
title. She swam to first place
ribbons in the freestyle,
breast:stroke a nd butterflyevents.
Karen Wells took the first place
ribbon in the backstroke and
added a fifth and sixth place to
her total, Sandy Pratt had a fifth
and Jodi McBride a third.
In the boys' division, Brett
Batten swam to first place in the
butter fly and breast stroke and
placed second in the freestyle,
only one-tenth of a second behind
the winner. Tim Campbell scored
a fifth place finish for the only
other Exeter points,
Brenda Waldeck's 10 and under
championship was garnered with
a first and two seconds. Tina
Brand also recorded one first and
a third. Lynn Stephens had a
third, fourth and sixth, while
Darlene McBride contributed a
fifth and Darla Crawford a fourth
and fifth.
George Pratt was the only 10
and under boy to record a first for
Exeter, but the locals scored well
in that division. Pratt also had a
fourth. Steve Batten followed him
with two fourths and a fifth, while
Steve Laithwaite had a third and
fourth. John Wells contributed a
sixth and third, Jack Vermaeten
had two thirds and Ken Boersma
scored a fourth.
Lori Stephens had a fifth and
Dianne Boersma a sixth for the
only points the Exeter gals
picked up in the under 12 races.
Scott Batten's first in the
breast stroke was the only red
ribbon the under 12 boys picked
up, but they still managed to hold
their own in that division.
Batten also had a third and
fifth, while Bill Glover tied him
for points with two seconds and a
fourth. Scott Pincombe recorded
two thirds and a fifth and John
1Viol had a fourth,
