The motto, "Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it," was commented on by Mrs. Janet Desjardine. President, Mrs. Nola Taylor presided for the business. It was decided to make a donation of $50, to Arc Industries at Dash- wood in aid of buying a cooler. GRADUATES FROM GUELPH — Frank Backx, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerard Backx, RR 2 Grand Bend, graduated with his B.Sc. (Agr.) degree. He majored in Agricultural Economics and has accepted a position with Richard- son's Securities, Winnipeg. A motion was made to have the Tweedsmuir History book" on display on June 9 when U.O.W. women observe the church's 50th anniversary. Mr. Alec Hamilton reported on the District annual and that the area conventionwill be heldat Vanastra in October. Achievement Day for the W. I. quilting class was held last Wednesday at Clinton. Articles on display at this meeting were quilt tops, pot holders, cushions, place mats and a completed crib quilt. Mrs. Ed Gill as convener of Horticulture was in charge of the program. Mr. & Mrs, Paul Turnbull showed pictures of Guatemala with commentary and several souvenirs of the country. An exchange of plants among the members was enjoyed. It was decided to go out to a restaurant for dinner for the June meeting. Lunch hostesses were Mrs. Art Webb, Mrs, Ruth Hendrick and Mrs. Eva Allister. Church News Rev. Edwin Wattam, of St. Catharines was guest minister, Sunday evening at the Church of God. Youth of the congregation sang a special song, "We are one in the Spirit." This was a baptismal service and baptized by immersion were Mrs. Grace Lawrance, Doug Steckle, Laura Campbell, Danny Snider and Kathy Steckle. At the morning service at St. John's by the Lake, Anglican Church, Robert Andrew Sharen, son of Mr. & Mrs. Bob Sharen was baptized by Rev. Aubrey Bell. Sponsors were Mr. & Mrs. William Putherbough, London, and Mr. & Mr. & Mrs. Errol Skillender, Exeter. Student minister, for the summer, Howard Gorle, conducted the worship service. A special, "Flower Sunday" service was held at Grand Bend United Church, Sunday morning, as one of its 50th Anniversary events. Guest speaker was Rev. J. B. Moore, Kitchener, a past Minister who served at Grand Bend from 1934-1938. His sermon topic was "God Still Speaks." Many beautiful flowers decorated the church, plus tropical fish and a bird, The choir provided two an- thems, and looked very smart in their new colorful choir gowns. Sunday, June 5, the U.C.W. will be in charge of the United Church service, when guest speaker will be Miss Ann Reuber. Personals Tuesday evening Mrs. Gerry Love and Mrs. Colin Love were co-hostesses at the latter home for Mr. & Mrs. Ronald Boniface, (nee Brenda Love) who were married May 21 in Ottawa and leave in June for four years in Germany with the Armed For- ces, mechanics divisions. The bride is the grandaughter of Mr. & Mrs. Colin Love and daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Morley Love, Ottawa. Mr. Sr Mrs. Gerry Love and family flew to Ottawa on the week-end to attend the Boniface- Love Wedding. Rev. and Mrs. John Campbell, Laura Lee and Douglas, visited on the holiday with his parents, Mr. & Mrs. A. Douglas Campbell of Westfield, near Blyth. Seventeen from the Church of God went by bus from Parkhill, last Friday night, to the Barry Moore Crusade, in London: Mr. & Mrs. Allan Gordon of Yorkshire England are visiting his parents Mr. & Mrs. Edward Gordon at Grand Cove Estates. Mrs. Gordon*Jr. wished to report that she bought hand craft souvenirs from the correspon- dents home to take home to England. Rev. and Mrs. J. B. Campbell and George Winegarden, attended a Provincial board of trustees meeting, Saturday, in Kitchener. Mrs. John Campbell attended the women's Provincial meeting. Brian Love, Ottawa, made a brief stopover, Thursday to call at his uncle's Gerry Love, farm and his grandparents, Mr. & Mrs Colin Love, on his way through to Sarnia and Windsor to deliver a truck load of steel. SERENADE PREMIER — Four area girls put on an impromptu performance for Premier William Davis when he visited Exeter on Friday for a picnic at Riverview Park. The girls sang an original PC party song they had composed for the occasion. The singers included Nancy, Janet and Jcan Amos and the little gal in the front is Laurie St. Pierre. Silverman investigated a collision May 22 on Highway 21 between vehicles ' driven by Abraham Stevens, London, and William Blewett, R.R. 2 Grand Bend. Silverman estimated the total damage at $400. Pinery detachment reported 46 charges under the Liquor Licence Act, four Highway Traffic Act charges, two Narcotic Control Act charges and two charges for impaired driving. Grand Bend OPP detachment reported 71 charges under the Liquor Licence Act, 42 Highway Traffic Act charges, three Narcotic Control Act charges, and two impaired driving charges.
