E. SUMMERS GRANTON Granton Women's Institute was well represented at the North Middlesex District Annual Meeting held in the Parkhill United Church on Tues. May 17 with Cloverdale being the host Institute. Rev. T.E. Hancock minister of the church gave a short Meditation on the theme of the meeting which was "Building for Tomorrow". Two members of Granton Institute who had passed away since the last District meeting were remembered by two minutes silence at the service of "In Memoriam", they were the late Mrs. Robt (Edna) Rainey and the late Mrs. Wm (Mary) Allen. There was a very lovely display of handmade articles made by the ladies who took the course "Needlepoint for Beginners". There was just one resolution to be voted on, which had to do with "clearer guide lines on packaged foods", this was sustained. Mrs. Carol Crerar Home Economist gave a very in- teresting account of her work with the 4—H clubs. Mrs. Emerson Stanley, Provincial Board Director left the following message with the members. The Granton W.I. met at the home of Mrs. Jules De Brabandere Tuesday May 17. Mrs. Gordon Dann presided and opened the meeting with the Ode, Lord's Prayer and Mary Stewart Collect, Roll Call was answered by "naming an article used everyday and where it was made". Plans were made for a bus trip to Toronto which will take in a visit to Ontario Place, the C.N. Tower and the new Eaton's Shopping Centre, tickets can be obtained from any Institute Member. Program conveners were Mrs. Norman Hodgins and Mrs. Clare Bryan, Mrs. Hodgins read a paper on the topic, Agriculture. Then Mrs. Wm. Thompson demonstrated how to make delicious fudge, two different kinds were made from a basic recipe and these were sampled by the members after lunch, which the conveners assisted the hostess to serve. Church news At the United Church Rev. Elwood Morden conducted the Sunday morning service The theme for his sermon was"Stop Worrying, and Start Living", Don't worry about tomorrow, look at the birds and the flowers, how beautiful they are, God takes care of them, worry is waste, spiritual mismanagement, and unbelief, it is'nt work that kills man it is worry,said Rev. Morden, Jesus said, et not • your heart be troubled, ye believe in God, believe also in Me. At the St Thomas Anglican Church the service was with+ drawn so that the congregation could worship with Saintsbury who were celebrating their an- niversary. Lady Foresters meet The members of Court Valentine Canadain Foresters met in the Lodge Hall Monday evening. Sister Sandra Hern presided and conducted the business. It was decided to at- tend the play "Babes in Arms" at the Country Playhouse at Grand Bend in August, members will have tickets to sell, the price will include the bus fare the same as last year. A donation was voted to the "Flowers of Hope" Fund for the mentally retarded. Plans were also discussed for a craft display and sale with a pot luck supper in the fall, The numbers draw was won by Olive Hodgins (Mrs. Kenneth) and Audrey Hodgins was the winner of a Forester coffee spoon from the bulletin draw. Mr. & Mrs. John Burleigh and family Goderich visited on the weekend with Mr. & Mrs. Bob Norris and family. Mr, & Mrs. Jim Cross and Murray, London visited on the weekend with Mr. & Mrs. Leslie Miller. Mrs. Clifton Miller visited Monday with Mr. & Mrs. Nelson Hunkin, Teeswater, Mrs. Jim Neilson, Owen Sound and Mrs, Dave Capling, Mississauga visited Monday with the J, Templeman family. Jack Norris is a patient in St, Joseph Hospital, London having undergone surgery last week, Personals Congratulations to Carol Worth and Dani Roloson both students of Medway High School who attended the Annual night of the Data Pro, Association dinner at the Holiday Inn London Tuesday evening. They were ac- companied by teachers, Peter Calvert and George Bullas. Carol and Dani were the two pupils with the highest marks in the class, Congratulations also to Mrs. Willa Harding, Mrs, Shirley Bannerman, Mrs. Mary McRobert, Mrs. Edna Rudd, Mrs. Judy Sleeper and Mrs. Nancy Marshall on placing fourth in the nineteenth annual bowling tournament at Walkerton on the weekend held at the Hartley Hotel. The above ladies are from the St. Mary's Bowling Club. Mr, and Mrs, Elmer Harlton and Mr. and Mrs. Ron Mills enjoyed a trip to Northern Ontario on the week—end. Mrs. Donna Collins of London was a weekend guest of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Knapman and family and attended church on Sunday morning. Mr, Keith Summers of Toronto was home for the holiday week- end with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Elmers Summers. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Summers and Keith called on Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Kirsch of London on Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Hodgins and family visited with Miss Rona Hickey, and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Shaver all of Toronto over the weekend
