Roll Call was answered by "One way we use fish in our home." Mrs. Jeffery read material on Ways with fish and points to remember about frozen fish. She also explained on How to poach in the oven. Mrs. Vivian read an article on the many ways of How to buy fish, How much to buy, How to store fish, Fish as a Food, How to cook, broil, bake and fry fish and how to cook in aluminum foil and poach fish. Jill Norris demon- strated "Chipper Fillets." The eighth meeting of the "Staffa Steakettes" was held at the home of Mrs. George Vivian. Roll Call was on the completion of record books and achievement day plans. Mrs. Jeffery read and discussed Wayswith poultry and the buying guide and How to store and how to thaw. She also explained Time Temperatures, tips for roasting chicken, how to make poultry dressing and gravy, and how to braise chicken. Mrs. Vivian read an article on how to stew chicken. She also discussed turkeys and ducks. Mrs. Jeffery told us about Cor- nish hens. Bev Templeman demonstrated how to make "Chicken Louise." "Patience" performed by the students of the Waterloo-Oxford District High School in the Humanities Theatre on the Campus and was enjoyed by all. Discussion groups were held on Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning to help the branch conveners plan more interesting and entertaining meetings, The accommodations were goods, meals were super, many new acquaintances made, which altogether made a very nice time for those chosen to attend. Mrs. Hardy was hoping to leave hospital Monday. Mr. & Mrs. Clarence Millson were dinner guestt of their son Mr, & Mrs, Ralph Millson, London for Mother's Day. A community shower in honour of Cindy Donaldson was held in the Clandeboye United Church Monday evening. Contests were conducted by Gwen Lynn and Hazel Williams and a reading by Eleanor Kestle. Among the beautiful gifts that Cindy received was a vacuum cleaner and iron from the community. Cindy thanked the ladies and invited them to attend their wedding dance on June 4, also to see her gifts on the Monday and Tuesday following her wedding. Lunch was served and a social time enjoyed by all. The Clandeboye Athletic Association wish to thank everyone that partronized their dance Friday night at the Kirkton Woodham Community Centre. United Church News The service Sunday was in charge of Rev, G. E. Morrow of London. The Sacrament of Baptism was observed for Heather May Newton, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Glen Newton. Next Sunday May 15, will be Anniversary Sunday and the service will be held at 11 a.m. Guest speaker will be Nancy Glendinning. The ladies of the congregation are asked to bring "finger lunch" to be served in the Sunday School room, following worship. St. James Anglican Church Rev. J. Holland observed the Sacrament of Baptism on Sunday afternoon for Kenneth and Patricia Pescod, children of Mr, and Mrs. Bruce Pescod, Clan- deboye. Mr. & Mrs. Walton, St. Thomas were godparents. The funeral for the late George Oliver, was held at the Haskett Funeral Home Saturday, Mr. Oliver made his home for many years with his niece, Mrs. Chas. Coughlin, Clandeboye before moving to Strathmere Lodge in 1971 where he stayed until his death last week. He was in his 82nd year. The Devotional was taken by Mrs. A. Whilsmith from Psalm 146, on the art of appreciation. A duet "My Mother's Prayer" by Mrs, Sillery and Mrs. Hoffman with Mrs. Iles accompanying was enjoyed very much. Mrs. Strang reported on the Synodical held in Stratford which was well attended. Final plans were made for the Auction sale to be held in the Church basement Monday May 16 at 6:30 p.m. Mrs. Jack Pryde presented the study book which is "Canadian Concernsand Christian response to these concerns." This will be studied in four parts. 1. Countries of the third and fourth world; Plight of our native peoples; the handicapped and the family, the church and our ever changing society. Sell Mrs. Art Hodgins was among 500 ladies from all over Ontario that attended the Officers Con- ference, Federated Women's Institute of Ontario for Branch Conveners of Citizenship and World Affairs, Education and Cultural Activities, Family and Consumer Affairs, held for three days last week at the University of Waterloo. The theme for the conference was "When planning for a year, sow corn; When planning for a decade, plant trees; When planning for life, train and educate people." The program included guest speakers, Mrs. Herb Maluske, President of F.W.I.O., Miss Mollie McGhee, Director of Home Economics Branch, Ontario Ministry of Consumer and Commercial Relations and Mr. Gordon Bennett, Deputy Minister, Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food.
