Under the Mission & Service
Committee Lucan & Clandeboye
United churches held a combined
Dedication to Mission Service.
The chairperson was Mrs. Wm
Froats and Mrs. David Newman
read the scripture, Math. 25.
A film "Listen Christian" told
of the work of the church in Brazil
helping farmers, childrens
summer programs, hospitals in
Newfoundland, etc. Mrs. Gary
Jones sang a solo "There is a
world out there."
Saturday it was my pleasure to
attend a meeting of all
correspondents for our National
Magazine 'Legion' held at Legion
House, Ottawa. We were all there
from British Columbia to
Newfoundland.
This marks a first time we have
had the opportunity to meet
enmasse with management and
discuss our problems in the field.
It was simply amazing how we
experienced the same complaints
from the readers, not enough
branch news, too many ad-
vertisements, not enough photos
published etc, etc.
I feel we all left the meeting

better equipped to serve our
readers. Due to the open
discussions held we learned of the
problems encountered by
management and now have a
better understanding of the
standardsnecessaryto,getarticles
published. On the other hand
management is now aware of the
problems encountered in the
field.
It was the general consensus of
opinion that the meeting was
productive, informative and
worthwhile and one should be
held at least once every two
years. As a result of the meeting I
feel sure over the next few
months a marked improvement
will be noted in the content of our
magazine 'Legion'.
Members are reminded
Wednesday, May 11 is an im-
portant date in your calendar
year to remember. This will be
nomination and election night at
Branch 540 of the Royal Canadian
Legion. Set this date aside
Comrades and come on over to
the Branch and exercise your
democratic right by voting for
those members you wish to run
the affairs of your branch of the
Legion for the ensuing term.
See you there.
Don't forget mother on
Mother's Day. Happy day to all
Moms.
And that's 30 for this week —

Returning home from our
Easter vacation in the States
our new '77 Plymouth
developed engine trouble
with the result that my fami-
ly and I had to spend a night
in a Motel before the car was
fixed.
Since it was still under
warranty we were covered
for the repairs, but I've been
trying ever since to get reim-
bursed for the towing
charges I had to pay plus the
cost of the Motel for my wife,
two kids and myself.
Chrysler have turned me
down flat and I don't think
this is right.
A letter from Chrysler
Canada informs us that if
our reader will send them a
copy of the towing bill they
will pay this but definitely
no Motel!

My eight-track stereo tape
was stolen from my car while
it was parked in the hotel
parking lot where I was stay-
ing while in Toronto.
I reported the theft im-
mediately and was told that
the manager in charge of the
hotel parking would contact
me for the details. Since then,
nothing!
I finally did succeed in get-
ting through to the manager
of the company that operates
the parking for the hotel and
he told me that they were
looking into my claim, but
that was over two months
ago!
If our reader will buy a
replacement stereo tape and
either send or deliver the
receipt to the Parking Com-
pany's head office in Toron-
to he will be reimbursed.
I was only back from the
hospital with my new son for
about a week, when a young
man called representing a
Photo Company and wanting
to take pictures of my new
baby. I agreed as the price
seemed reasonable and gave
him a cheque.
Since then however,
everything has gone wrong
that possibly could, with the
pictures. Would you believe
I've received three different
sets of baby pictures, and
none of them mine!
It appears that the
photographer who took your
baby's photos has his work
developed by a large photo
finishing company in Toron-
to and they have somehow
managed to misplace the
correct negatives.
However, instead of any
more fruitless searching,
they have arranged to have
the photographer take new
pictures of your baby at no
charge.
