The women then made a tour of the fire hail and fire trucks. Mrs. Verla Allen thanked the three fire men for the tour and information the members received, Safety pamphlets were available for each person. Back at the Elimville hall, the president Mrs. Grace Pym opened the meeting with a poem "12 Daisies." The Opening Ode and Institute Creed were repeated, Miss Ruth Skinner introduced Mrs. Elsie Westcott, the District•President and Mrs. Anna Ballantyne, the District Secretary and presented them with a gift, The meeting on "Safety" was then turned over to the corn- mittee Mrs. plga tiern ana Verla Allen. A poem "Now I look twice" was read by Mrs. Allen. Mrs. Bern read an article "Please Do not Eat" telling the members how many flowers including house and outside are very poisionous, Mrs, Gladys Hern played an Irish instrumental, Mrs. Allen read an article "I'm a Farmer's Wife." Many pamphlets on all kinds of safety were on display. The meeting was turned back to the president. Mrs, Westcott, District President spoke a few words bringing greetings from Huron South., The District Annual will be held May 19, An invitation from Hurondale W,I. was accepted to attend a dessert euchre on March 23. The fair exhibit was discussed. Mrs. Annie Jean Johns was named to a committee with more, to be named later. A donation was given to Exeter fair. Mrs. Kaye Penhale gave a hospital report. Miss Ruth Skinner was named to the Citizenship and worm 'luaus at the district level. A donation was given to Usborne Central School to help send one student to Ottawa to the National School Safety Jamboree in May. The meeting closed by singing "The Queen" and lunch followed. Personals Mr. & Mrs. Charles Martin will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary on March 24. Mr, & Mrs, Alvin Cooper visited recently with Mr. & Mrs. Don Parsons and family of Hensall. They celebrated Donnie Parsons birthday. Friday evening guests with Ruth and Laverne Skinner of Exeter were Mr. & Mrs. Alvin Fulton, Mr. & Mrs. Alvin Cooper, Mr, & Mrs. Emerson Penhale and Mr. & Mrs. Floyd Cooper. With one hundred and sixty three Branches in southwestern Ontario, the returns from these amounted to $193,673.83 in con- tribution money to the world- wide. task of translating, publishing and distributing the Christian scriptures. The sole purpose of the Canadian Bible Society is to make it possible for everyone who wants a Bible in Canada and in all countries, to have one in his or her own language. Each year some four million scriptures in 75 different languages are distributed in Canada. In Southwestern Ontario the Bible Society distributed in 1976 more than 10,000 Bibles, Thames Road induct elders By MRS. WILLIAM ROHDE THAMES ROAD Last Sunday morning during the church service two new members were inducted namely Edwin Miller to the Board of Trustees and Ted Kernick to the Board of Stewards. This Sunday Ross Hodgert was inducted as an elder and Glen Lamport to the Board of Stewards. They were called forward by the Clerk of Session John Pym. Miss Joanne Danelko, Miss Kim Maryanovich and Miss Janice Stewart of Lambton College, Sarnia spent the weekend with Mr. & Mrs. Glen Stewart. Mr. & Mrs. William Rohde were Saturday supper guests With Mrs. Marguerite Gibson of London, The Rohde's spent Saturday evening with Mr. & Mrs. Roy Pepper of Exeter. Mrs. Mary Hodgert of Exeter was a Sunday guesb with Mr. & Mrs. Ross' Hodgert. Mr. & Mrs, Alex Rohde of Mitchell were Sunday guests with Mr. & Mrs. William Rohde. Thirteen people attended the first Lenten, service, Sunday evening. The Word of God is now in 1600 languages with distribution well over 300 million copies annually, throughout the world. The demand for the Bible is the greatest in history. The problem is not to get 'people to take the Bible, but to find money to produce the Scriptures which people are wanting and for which they are waiting.
