There was considerable flooding at Port Franks Friday afternoon but this was quickly cleared up when the ice gave way. The level of Lake Huron is lower this year and the extra fall of current was instrumental in flushing the ice from the river out into the lake. The only apparent damage at Riverview Park was to one of the bridges which allows visitors to walk from one side of the river to the other. It was washed down to the bridge at Highway 4. Works superintendent Glenn Kells said a main beam in the bridge was broken and it was beyond repair. The bridge was fished out of the water Monday afternoon by the PUC truck.
