SHOULD YOU
PREARRANGE
In these changing times,
attitudes about funerals are
changing too!
Members of the Ontario
Funeral Service Association
find that many show a prefer-
ence for a funeral which is
simple, yet dignified and in
good taste.
The thoughtful head of
every family takes care to
prepare a Will, carry Life In-
surance, etc., with one un-
selfish motive in mind — to
assure his family of security
and freedom from worry.
Many go further and pre-arrange their own funeral
leaving instructions as to their wishes.
Candidly speaking, should it not be YOUR RESPON-
SIBILITY to make these arrangements so this task will not
be left to someone else?
The Ontario Funeral Service Association believes that
this is a matter which deserves your serious consideration
and suggests that you call on a funeral director and ask
about pre-arrangements. Your enquiry will be in confi-
dence and without obligation.

FARMERS CLEAR THE ROADS — Some farmers fotind they would have to clear the township roads
themselves if they wanted an exit from their farms as township crews bogged down. A narrow pathway has
been cleared on this Hay township road and the tip of the farmers tractor can just be seen.

Blizzards spell hardships with
blocked roads. But most farmers
who live in the snowbelt area can
handle these inc onveniences. Thus
the farmers who form the
Tuckersmith Township Council
were not deterred when they
wanted to hold their regular
session last week.
After cancelling the meeting
Tuesday night they called it for
Wednesday afternoon. Their
usual meeting place — Huron
Centennial School in Stanley
Township — was buried behind
a wall of snow.
Reeve Ervin Sillery had the
answer. He invited council to
gather at the recently vacated
house owned by his mother, Mrs.
Sam McCurdy, right in
Brucefield.
It marked the second time in
about 30 years council. had ac-
tually met in Tuckersmith.
The reeve arrived on his
snowmobile with Councillor
Frank Falconer as did Councillor
Bob Fotheringham and clerk-
treasurer James McIntosh.
Deputy-reeve Bob Bell and
Councillor Bob Drummond
arrived by car.
Road superintendent Allan
Nicholson couldn't attend to give
his report on snowplowing
township roads — he was busy
snowplowing township roads.

Planning Board to prepare a
comprehensive zoning by-law for
Tuckersmith to replace a partial
by-law passed in 1972.
Council learned that the
Ontario Fire Marshal's office has
agreed to do a study on fire
protection needs in the township
as requested by council.
Mrs. Betty Cardno attended the
meeting to ask council that the
members of the singles club be
permitted to continue to hold
their weekly dance at Vanastra
Recreation Centre on Saturday
nights during the year as they did
last.
Council agreed and said the
rental charge would be $100 for
the main hall plus $25 for the
kitchen if used, and plus $25 for
the Day Care Centre if used.
Members of council took over
in January the running of the
Recreational Centre instead of
the former Recreation Board due

centre which had a deficit of
$80,000.00 at the end of last year.
Council considered raising the

member. They will decide at the

The report stated that tobacco
plants were used in the tests
carried out in six areas across the
county (one on the Robert Allan
farm at Brucefield).
Councillor Fotheringham said
the test results would have been
the same if bean plants had been
used. "You can imagine the
results if an energy plant should
be built in Huron," he said. (It
has been rumoured on numerous
occasions that such a plant might
be built in the St. Joseph area.)
Councillor Frank Falconer
was named to represent the
township on the Huron County
