Elimville Institute pick fair contestant
Mrs. Marie Brock and Mrs.
Verla Allen were named to attend
the quilting short course at the
end of the month. It was decided
to purchase and send a picture of
the Winchelsea school bell which
was installed at Usborne Central
School this fall to Mr. & Mrs. A. J.

ELIMVILLE
After two concellations the
Elimville Women's Institute held
their meeting at Elimville church
on January 22.
The 4-H girls, leaders and their
mothers were special guests.
Everyone joined in singing the
Institute Grace and then enjoyed
a bountiful meal,
Mrs., Grace Pyttn, the
president opened the meeting
with a poem "A Prayer." The
Opening Ode and Creed were
repeated.
Halls and to "Home & Country"
magazine.
Mrs. Marion Skinner of the
program committee opened the
next part of the meeting with a
poem "1977 A New Year," Mrs.
Marjorie Dykeman gave the
motto "News is like a cheque,
never endorse it until you know it
is genuine.
Four girls then each gave a
two minute speech in an effort to
represent the Institute at the
Farm Show in London on March 1
to 4, The contestants were Doris
Stephens, Cathy Miller, Carol
Allen and Kathy Cooper. The
judges, Mrs. Alma Rundle and
Mrs, Helen Hodgert chose Carol
Allen as the representative to the
Farm Show,
Mrs, Janet Coward also of the
program committee held a very
interesting and informative
contest which everyone was able
to take part in,
It was decided to send Mrs.
Shirley Cooper as delegate to the
Officers' Convention on May 3 at
Waterloo. The invitation of
Kippen Institute to join them on
March 16 at their meeting and a
card evening was accepted. A
donation was made to the War
Memorial Hospital,
Mrs. Marjorie Johns presented
gifts to Cheryl Parsons, Nancy
Cooper, Rosemary Miller and
Natalie Stroud on the occasion of
their completion of six 4-H
projects (County honors).
The Institute members plan on
entertaining their husband or
friend at a bowling party in
February.
The buying committee has
purchased an electric tea kettle.
The committee are to go ahead
and purchase the chairs for the
hall and also to investigate
further into a meat slicer,
Mrs. Hazel Westcott thanked
the Institute on behalf of the 4-H
girls, leaders and the mothers for
the invitation to join them at their
meeting,
Personals
The Fellowship Club of the
Thames Road and Elimville
churches held a meeting Sunday
evening, Glen Webb speaking on
Tax Equalization and MPP Jack
Riddell speaking on Ontario
Farm Program were the two
guest speakers.
The Thames Road-Elimville
Young Peoples held a bowling
party on Saturday night.
Following the bowling party, they
went back to Thames Road
United Church where they told
"Ghost Stories" and at.e pizza.
The Elimville Womens
Institute held a euchre at the hall
Monday evening with eight tables
in play. The winners were Ladies
high, Mrs. Kay Morley; Ladies
low, Mrs. Verda Morrison; Men's
high, Delmar Skinner; Mens
lone, Russell Brown and Lucky
serviette was Bill Routly, There
will be another euchre on
February 7.
Mr. Alvin Fulton spent several
days with Mr. & Mrs. Douglas
Fulton and boys of Stratford.
Mr, & Mrs, Roy Brock of
Hensall, Mr. & Mrs. Douglas
Johnson and family of Lucan
visited with Mr. & Mrs. Alvin
Cooper on Sunday.
Mr. & Mrs. W. J. Routly at-
tended the fortieth wedding
anniversary of Mr. & Mrs. Ken
Hogg of Thorndale at the home of
Mr. & Mrs. John Hogg in London
on Sunday,
Mr, & Mrs. Floyd Cooper, Joan
and Doug attended the Exeter
Ausable River Nomad ski-doo
party on Sunday at Mr. & Mrs.
Alex McMurtrie's near Kippen.
