Mr. & Mrs. Reinhold Miller
have returned home following a
-two week visit to Jamaica. They
were in a party of eight who flew
from Toronto, among them were
their daughter and husband, Mr.
& Mrs. Harold Maine but the
Millers were actually with Mr. &
Mrs. Milt Hauch, Waterloo.
The weather was beautiful, in
the eighties, and they were right
by the ocean and pool. Mrs.
Miller enjoyed both but Reiny
didn't take advantage of them.
They were taken on tours and
enjoyed the trip very much but
were glad to return home. The ice
storm was no surprise to them as
a couple from Crediton were on
the same trip and had called
home. UCW meeting
Calvary United church women

designed to include short dramas
throughout with three ladies
taking part. Mrs. Mildred

Mrs. Stuart Wolfe read the
scripture. Rev. Bruce Guy spoke
on "Responsibility of the
Church" and shared with the
ladies people's responsibility.

president, conducted the
business. The roll call was an-
swered by 19 members.
Donations were made to Bunny
Bundle and World Development.

for her until recently.
She had been placed in the
hospital during the power failure
following the ice storm but had
returned home, A cold followed
and she had to return to the

goodness sakes do so, but Dave,
let's not leave these boys you so
ably coached with the impression
that they wasted a whole year
doing something that was not
worthwhile,
We all know that in any walk of
life that the teacher, the coach,
the leader will always get the
hassle from the parent, the
executive, the armchair coach,
They always know what's best
and they don't mince their words
to let you know about it . but
they can't take away from you

Dear Editor:
In a recent issue of your paper,
the page of pictures and reports
of local religions, indicate a real
famine of the word of God in our
town. Religions divide, whereas
the gospel unites all who are in
Christ.
Jesus prayed for His followers
to be one as He and the Father
were one. He also spoke in the
singular when He said He is the
way, the truth, the head, the door,
the foundation and the builder of
His church. He said there is one
fold, one faith, and one family
named after the Father,
His followers have the same
(spiritual) mind, judgment and
spirit. They sit together, are'knit,
quickened, raised up, tempered,
framed and build together. He is
the organizer and the govern-
ment is upon His shoulders.
This is God's visible and •in-
visible church, in Which there is
no schism. The Lord. adds the
members when they get saved.
(Acts 2:47). God is the perfect
bookkeeper and His books are all
that will count on Judgment Day.
When we sin He blots our names
off His book. People are either
righteous or unrighteous, holy or
unholy, saints or sinners,
In comparing God's church
with the religions named and
organized by man, creeds written
by man, members admitted by
man, you can see how far below
the Bible standard these sects
are,
The ecumenical effort won't
produce the true church but the
Holy Spirit can,

Dear Editor:
What a shame that people and
organizations fail to appreciate
talent, especially when the talent
comes free of charge. We are
refering to the resignation of
Dave Silcock from your area
soccer scene, a resignation that
bitterly upsets us,
We can speak on behalf of
Detroit, Sarnia, Windsor, and
many other minor soccer
associations, when we say how
sorry and disturbed we feel at the
news of Silcock's resignation. We
all hope and trust that his
decision is limnited to his own
locale, for to lose such a valuable
asset from the national and in-
ternational soccer front, would be
an irreplaceable loss.

Dear Parents and Friends:
Weather, most of it bad, has
again interfered with regular
school activities. It has only been
these past few days that all pupils
are finally back to school. While
our school was without hydro for
only one day, it was not always
possible to bring in all the
children. A number of our pupils
and far-Jiffies had to find ac-
commodation out of the area
while waiting for service to be
restored to their own homes,
We had an enjoyable two weeks
with Ann Pinder who came to us
from Lambton College in Sarnia.
Ann was assigned to our school
for work experience as part of
her course in Early Childhood
Education. Ann wrote a per-
sonal letter to each pupil after
she left. We wish her much
success. The children with whom
she will be working will be for-
tunate indeed.
The junior room celebrated
Pancake Day in the usual manner
by preparing and cooking pan-
cakes in the classroom. The
children all took turns measuring
and stirring. This special treat
has become an annual event and
each year we become a little
more adept at keeping the syrup
off the table and on the plates.
Mr. Dave Bieman, the county's
media co-ordinator completed
the editing of the video tape of our
pupils in time for me to show to a
number of parents at ARC
Industries last month. The video
tape was replayed for the
children the next day and they
were quite excited to see
themselves on a T.V. screen, A
special thanks is extended to Mr.
Bieman who had to make several
trips back to the school so that all
our children would be on the tape.
Perhaps you saw the picture of
Eloise and Eileen in the
Independent News. they had
both won medals for skating at
the Special Winter Olympics in
February. Mrs. MacGregor
accompanied five of our pupils to
the University of Western
Ontario on a Saturday where our
children participated with
hundreds of others from south-
western Ontario. This is the
fourth year we have been able to
attend this event with a bus load
of children from Goderich and
Wingham. •
This week will bring to a close
our skating program. We have
been going to the arena in Huron
Park each Wednesday afternoon
since the fall. Those children who
are not able to skate have just as
,auch fun sliding on the ice with
their boots.

What is the present situation when someone makes a
purchase from a door-to-door salesman and later regrets
it? .
A friend of mine bought a vacuum cleaner from a door-
to-door salesman recently and then later discovered that
she was charged too much. She told me that she had given
the salesman a substantial down payment and had signed
a contract to pay off the balance on monthly installments.
She thinks she is stuck because of , this, but it seems to me
that I read somewhere that these contracts can be
nullified, if a person feels cheated or otherwise dis-
satisified. Would , "IMPACT" clarify the current law regar-
'ding door-to-door purchases, please.
You are correct in assuming that there is a cancellation clause
for goods sold in this manner, OUT notice to cancel' has to be .
-made very speedily,. (within 48 hours) which would mean that it
is probably of no , help to your 'friend be6use, the present law
states that, under the Consumer Protection Act you can cancel a
signed sales contract if you write a registered fetter to the com-
pany concerned, or deliver it personally within two days of
receiving your copy of the contract. Verbal or telephone
cancellation is not acceptable.
This "cooling-off" period applies only to door-to-door
purchases and only when the purchase price is .more than $50.00

I
I am seeking a divorce and want to obtain one as cheap-
ly as I can. It was my intention to work through one of
those "do-it-yourself, divorce firms", but a couple of girls,
where I work have told me that they are all a big racket.
If they are right then how come these firms are allowed
to stay in business? Could your column give me some ad-
vice on this matter?
The firms that advertise do-it-yourself divorces, do give, (as a
general rule) exactly what they advertise, namely, non-legal as-
sistance to people who wish to handle the divorce proceedings
themselves.
In many cases this has worked out successfully, but in many
other cases a person has found that, for one cause or another, a
lawyer is essential and a judge may so indicate.
We spoke with a legal aid staff member and she admitted
knowing of several cases that had encountered problems with
do-it-yourself divorce proceedings. "Each case is different", she
said, and when we enquired about a lawyer's fee for an un-
contested divorce, she informed us that, "ft could be anywhere
from $300 to quite possibly $7,000, depending.on the length of
time taken to prepare the case, and, she continued, "There is no.
schedule of fees for lawyers handling divorce actions."
