received word of the death of his

Patricia Anderson, 10 Green
Acres, Grand Bend, was taken to
South Huron Hospital, Exeter,
Saturday, by Hoffman's am-
bulance and treated for minor
injuries which she sustained as a
passenger in a car driven by
Lambertus Baltessen, RR 2,
Grand Bend. The car collided
with guard posts on Main Street.
Constable R.J. Sawyers in-
vestigated and estimated
damage was $1,500. Mr,
Baltessen also received minor
injuries.
Other accidents investigated
by the Pinery Park detachment
of OPP included the following,
March 14, Prov. Const, F.S.
Hubert investigated a hit and run
collision in the parking lot of the
Green Forest Hotel, Grand Bend,
when a 1975 Chrysler owned by
Raymond Ducharme RR 1, Dash-
wood, was damaged by an
unknown vehicle. Damage was
estimated at $400.00.
March 15, Prov. Const, R.J,
Sawyers investigated a two car
Bend. A 1973 Gremlin driven by
Gordon Studerus, 266 Grandview
Ave„ London, Ont. was in
collision with a 1971 Pontiac
driven by Daniel Dalton, RR 2,
Grand Bend. Damage was
estimated at $550,00.
March 17, 1976, Prov, Const.
W.'P, Elliott investigated a car
collision on Lakeview Ave.,
Southcott Pines when a 1974
Blazer driven by Clare D. Snider,
Herb Pfile is back at his home
in Grand Bend, after suffering
from a bad fall. He spent several
weeks at St. Joseph's Hospital,
London, and with his son Dale
and family in London.
Mrs, Nola Taylor and Mrs. Ed
Gill attended a ceramics
seminar, last Monday and
Tuesday, in Sarnia.
Mrs. Alec Hamilton attended a
scholarship committee meeting,
Thursday a,m. at the
Grand Bend Women's Institute
met Thursday afternoon in the
town hall. Roll call was answered
by, "Name a Canadian Indian
Tribe and where it is located."
President, Mrs. Nola Taylor
opened with a poem, "Good af-
ternoon, it is a Lovely Day,"
Guest speaker was 12 year old
Colleen Sharen, who recently won
first prize in a public speaking
contest, sponsored by Grand
Bend Legion, at Woodside Public
school at Forest, Colleen is a
Grade VII student at Grand
Bend, and spoke on, Grand Bend,
Our History Past and Present.
She told about the first settlers
who came in 1839, and hurdle
population increases in suer ,
Colleen's grandmother, Mr . J.
Sharen is a WI member.
Mrs, Alec Hamilton, who is
curator, of the GB branch, spoke
on the motto, Every noble life
leaves the fibre of it interwoven
forever in the work of the world.
She spoke on great writers,
painters, and old buildings. She
talked about Claude de Ramezay
Chateau in Montreal, built in
1705, and the residence of John
Graves Simcoe, built in 1783, at
Upper Canada Village.
It was announced that a "Food

seniors' meeting
The Golden Age Club of Grand
Bend held their March meeting at
the Village Inn Retreat with an
attendance of 30, Wednesday
afternoon.
President, Bill Love, conducted
the business. A seminar is in the
planning stage for month of May.
A bus trip to Ottawa to see the
tulips is also being planned for
May, and one to Holland,
Michigan was discussed.
After the business, Mrs., Nola
Love and Mrs, Mary Ravelle
conducted a penny sale, which
was fun.
Various games were played
and Irish music played by Mrs.
IL Sheppard.
Special lunch of ice cream and
angel food cake was served
honoring their oldest member, on
her birthday, Mrs. Dorothy
Reeves.

At the present time the Shipka
Community Centre is rented and
several young actors and ac-
tresses from Huron Country
Playhouse are practising two
plays, "Circus," and `Fan-
tasy", there. These will be shown
in public schools only, beginning
April 5 and will be shown in nine
different counties. Grand Bend
and Parkhill are two schools
where they will be shown.

John Reid of Oshawa spent last
week holidaying at his parents
home here, Mr. & Mrs. Murray
Reid.
Nancy Anne Glousher, Kit-
chener, is holidaying with her
aunt, uncle and cousins, Mr. &
Mrs. Ross Pickering.
Eight tables were in play at the
progressive euchre party held in
Shipka Community Hall, Wed-
nesday evening.

their March meeting, Monday
evening, in the Alhambra Hall
with 18 in attendance.

presided for the business session,
when plans were made to host the
Easter ecumenical, on April 12,
and to be held in the Alhambra

During the social time bingo
was played and winners were

UCW meeting
The general meeting of United
church women was held Tuesday
evening in the S.S. rooms in the
form of a pot luck supper.
A brief business meeting
followed conducted by president,
Mrs. Jack Eagleson.
The worship service was given
by Mrs, Marge Mason which
included meditation on The Trust
