Mt, Cannel team forges onward By PAUL SALMON I am pleased to announce that a very favourable hockey score headlines the Mt. Carmel news this week. March 9, the Mt. Carmel hockey team eliminated the Malcolm-Welding team from the playoffs with a 6-2 victory. The win gave the Mt, Carmel team an accumulated eight points and enables them to ad- vance to the final playoff roupd against the highly ranked Parkhill team. Tension builds as the Mt. Carmel team prepares for the first game of the series, which is slated for Tuesday, March 16. EXETER 235-1220 I run a small Auto Body Shop and a great deal of my work is charged to various Insurance Companies, several of who choose to take their "own sweet time" when it comes to paying the bill. I think that something should be done to force them to settle their accounts more promptly. A good example is one for the amount of $809.78 which has been due me since the beginning of last September, obviously a few in this category could quickly put a small business-man like myself out of business. What makes it seem all the more unfair is that Insurance Companies, ( for the most part) demand and get their premiums paid in advance. Have you any suggestions as to what can be done to make these procrastinators act quicker with their payments? If you wish to submit the name of this Insurance Company to us with complete details re. the account in question we will be pleased to see if we can find out what is holding up your money, and possibly be able to persuade them to use their "cheque writing hand". Perhaps if you offered a discount for cash on a 30 day basis, your money would get to you sooner. Lots of firms use this method to speed payments of accounts due. 0\ 0 {1. 3 000 Itadie Mae* AND TROPHIES DEALER II 5 0 °/' () OFF TROPHIES! ENGRAVING done For all your RADIO- STEREO and C.B. I tried to use a public phone to-day and found out that it now costs 20c to make the local call! Talk about Rip-Offs, The Bell Telephone Company sure "take the cake" as far as I'm concerned. I must admit however, that I still have "a bad taste in my mouth" from an incident that happened to me several years ago. I took in a friend who needed a place to stay since he wasn't working at the time. Unfortunately for me, one week-end when I was in Toronto this man went berserk and neighbours called the Police who took him to the Psychiatric Hospital. Before this however, he apparently went on a "phoning binge" because I just couldn't believe my eyes when I received my phone bill. I took it, (the bill) promptly to the Bell Telephone office and explained the situation including the fact, that this man was now a mental patient. This alas, fell on deaf ears because the outcome was to, pay the bill in full or have my phone disconnected! Unjust or unfair as it may appear to you, but when you have a phone installed in your name, then you are the one responsible for the payment of all telephone bills, regardless of the cir- cumstances. ' , ,, , ' c*-*I'4 237143456 MC AORUMNETL My in-laws went to Florida, and they asked us to take their car for a couple of runs while they were away, We did so, and put the lap belts on. Then we reached for the shoulder belt, and discovered that they had been removed with a razor blade, We went anyway, but wondered what would have happened if we had been stopped by the law. Could I as the driver, or my wife as the passenger have been charged. What about my father-in-law who is not in the country? Who is responsible? Who can be charged? To solve this "puzzle" we once again contacted our genial Police Chief for his help which as always was cheerfully given. The Chief informed us that, you and your wife would have been the ones charged, had you been stopped by the Police, that is presuming of course, that this particular incident took place before the new amendment to the Seat Belt Act, because as it stands now, the lap belt ONLY (if properly fastened) will suffice, provided the vehicle is older than January 7.0,7974. *du T F a a 641, Peeeld4TC EST d Ltd. de:0614 Son .
