Sunday was observed as White
Gift Sunday in Brinsley United
Church. The fourth Advent
candle was lit by Karen Hodgson
and Bradley Steeper with Karen
Hodgson playing on the organ
before the service, White Gifts
were brought to be sent to needy
families.
Mr. & Mrs. George Prest were
Sunday evening visitors with Mr.
& Mrs. Jack Atkinson and family
of Lucan,
Mr. & Mrs. Clayton Lewis,
London, and Mrs, Wes Lewis
visited with the latter's mother
Mrs. Sholdice at the Craigholme
Saturday,
Cindy Prest attended the
Christmas Dinner held at the
Chateau Gardens on Sunday.
White Gift Sunday was held in
St. Mary's Church, Brinsley.
Children brought their gifts to be
sent needy children.

The president Mrs. Charles
Douglas welcomed everyone and
after opening with the Institute
Ode and Mary Stewart Collect
read "A Solitary Life" and
"Holiday Fair". Sixteen mem-
bers answered the roll call by
giving a cookie recipe and
displaying a one-half dozen.
Mrs. Bill Mahon presented a
most interesting paper on the
motto, The origin of the
Christmas card, Carol singing
was enjoyed with Mrs. Robert
McCaughey at the piano.
Miss Ruth Jeffery was unable
to be present so her mother Mrs.
Spencer Jeffery accepted a gift of
a spoon rack to display Ruth's 18
spoons which she has received for
successfully completing eighteen
4-H Homemaking clubs.
Mrs. John Templeman gave
the early history of Carronbrook
(now Dublin) as her two minute
talk on a town or village of Perth
County.
Each member had brought a
nicely wrapped gift for a nursing
home resident and these were
judged by Mrs. Spencer Jeffery
with Mrs. Alvin Barbour's
wrapping the winner.
These gifts to be presented to
the residences for Christmas.
Secret pals were drawn for 1977,
after which Christmas cake and
cookies were enjoyed by all.
Hostesses were Mrs. Charles
Douglas and Mrs. John Tern-
pleman.
Many from this community
attended the Mitchell District
High School Glee Club's annual
Christmas concert, Sunday
evening in the High School
auditorium.
Holland lady
visits Shipka

Mrs. Alberdina Werterhof, of
Dalfen, Holland, arrived in
Canada by plane, Friday night, at
Toronto to spend Christmas and
some holidays with her brother
here, Mr. & Mrs. Dick Zielman
and family.
This correspondent has been
asked to announce the holiday
hours for the Post Office.
Christmas Day, December 25;
Monday, December 27; Tuesday,
December 28; January 1 and
Monday, January 3, the Post
Office will be closed. During this
time there will be no rural mail
delivery, no receipt of mail and
no dispatch of mail.
Bob Finkbeiner of Douglas
Point is pending Christmas
holidays here at the home of his
parents, Mr. & Mrs. Harold Fink-
beiner and other members of his
family.
