Saintsbury girl wins County honors
Institute held their Christmas
meeting Wednesday afternoon.
The president, Mrs. Grace Pym
opened the, meeting with a
Christmas Verse. The Opening
Ode and Institute Creed followed.
It was decided to send two
members to a leaders course for
the short course "Quilting",
Mrs. Gladys Skinner in-
troduced the guest speaker Mrs.
Joanne Dinney from Country
Flowers who arranged three
Christmas arrangements. Mrs.
Annie Jean Johns and Mrs.
Dorothy Elford won two of these
arrangements. Mrs. Phyllis
Gower thanked the guest.
The roll call was answered by
"Your favourite Christmas
verse. Mrs. Gower gave a
reading followed by the singing of
Christmas Carols. Birthday
greetings were sung to five
members.
The buying committee is to
look into the purchasing of a
meat slicer, electric tea kettle
and stacking chairs. It was
decided to have euchre this
winter with the first one being at
the hall on January 10.
The January meeting will be a
supper meeting at which time the
4-H girls and their mothers will
be guests. A Farm Show Princess
will be picked at this time. A gift
exchange and social hour
followed.
U CW Meet
The Elimville United Church
Women held their Christmas
meeting Monday afternoon, Mrs.
Christine Traquair read
"Meaning of Christmas".
Everyone joined in singing
"While Shepherds watched their
flocks by night". Mrs, Marjorie
Herdman read the Christmas
story from the scriptures. Miss
Ruth Skinner led in prayer.
Mrs. Shirley Kerslake read
"The Legend of the Christmas
Rose". Mrs. Grace Pym sang
"The Ballad of Mary and Joe".
Miss Skinner read "Christmas
Around the World", Hark the
Herald Angels Sing was sung,
Mrs. Traquair gave a reading
"The Gift". Miss Ann Delbridge
took the offering followed by the
dedication. Miss Skinner gave the
reading "Christmas Cards",
The Christmas Carol "Joy To
The World" closed this part of the
meeting. The president, Mrs.
Marjorie Johns took over the rest
of the meeting. The roll call was
answered by "A Christmas
custom from another land".
A donation will be given to five
Oakes and to the Mission and
Services. It was decided to do
some quilting after Christmas.
The prices of meals were set for
the following year.
It was announced the Sunday
School would be holding a
Christmas concert on December
22. The meeting closed with
"Silent Night" and the Mizpah
Benediction followed by a social
hour. Several crafts were on
display at the back of the room.
On Sunday morning the junior
choir, Sunday School and the
Superintendents, Mr. Jim Lynn
and Mr. Fred Delbridge, were in
charge of the worship service.
The different customs in
several countries were read by
the Sunday School members and
the flags of the countries were
also on display. The Junior Choir
sang two anthems.
Sunday evening the C.G.I,T.
girls and the explorer girls and
leaders held their annual
Christmas ;Vesper Service with
all members taking part.

Mrs. Ken Eaton gave her home
Wednesday evening for the
A.C.W. Christmas meeting. The
roll call was answered with a
Christmas verse. Mrs. Joan
Greenlee read the scripture from
the first chapter of St. Matthew,
Reports were read showing a
profitable year. Money was voted
to missions. Rev, Mary Mills was
absent owing to weather con-
ditions. Each member received a
gift from a beautiful lighted
Christmas tree.
The mystery prize donated by
Mrs. Margaret Carroll was won
by Mrs, Carol Quinton. Mrs.
Hazel Eaton the hostess served
refreshments assisted by her
little granddaughter Kimberly
Greenlee.
Rev, Mary Mills conducted the
sacrament of Holy Communion to
the congregation of St. Patrick's
Church for the first time Sunday
at one o'clock. Ian Carroll
assisted as server and read the

thirty o'clock service to the
Parish of St, Paul's, Kirkton, St.
Thomas, Grant and St. Patrick's
Saintsbury. Mrs. Harry Carroll,

attended the service,
Mr, & Mrs. Earl Atkinson,
Lucan and Mr. & Mrs. Don
Maguire were Sunday dinner
guests with Mr. & Mrs. Jim

guests at the annual Christmas
dinner Sunday evening at the
