Church marks Advent start
The First Sunday of Advent
was celebrated at the Hensall.
United Church on Sunday by
lighting the first Advent candle.
The ceremony was performed by
Mrs. Walter Spencer.
The service "was conducted by
the Rev. Don Beck whose
message was called, "Great
Expectations," We have to be
prepared in order that we may
receive the Christmas Message
and this is what Advent time is
for,
During the service the
following members from other
churches were received into
membership; Mr. & Mrs. Lorne
Gackstetter, Miss Sylvia Merner
and Mrs. Robert Middleton,
The choir was under the
direction of Mrs. John Turkheim
and sang, "The Winter Rose" as
the anthem. Flowers in the
sanctuary were in loving
memory of Mr. Sam Rannie and
Mr. John McFarlane.
Next Sunday, the Sacrament of
Holy Communion will be ob-
served and the Annual meeting of
the United Church Women will be
held on lvlonday December -6. •
