Frank Whilsmith was guest
speaker for the Thankoffering
meeting of Caven Women's
Society.
A well travelled person in his
work for the Presbyterian
Church and as a Canadian direc-
tor of the ChildrenS Christian
Fund, Mr. Whilsmith showed
movies and spoke of his visits to
Phillipines, Hong Kong. Costa
Rica, Guatemala, as well as
Korea and India.
Great things are happening in
the church today in many, many,
countries. Although unrest is
present the Christian alternative
of love and reconciliation was
advancing with great strides.
Mr, Whilsmith mentioned the
large congregation in Seval
Korea of 11,000, offering one
Sunday $33,000. Korea has the
strongest Presbyterian
denomination in the world.
Another small church with
membership of 65 contributing
$3,000. at one service,
On display were beautiful
Korean bedspreads bordered
with the royal colours and very
fine work taking 12 women one
week to complete a marble tray
set with precious stones, woven
jacket from Guatemala and
volcanic rock from Costa Rica.
There is work to do and with
F'aith it can be accomplished.
Mrs. J. Pryde gave the
devotional "Gratitude" with the
story of the Praying Hands and
the unselfish love that is por-
trayed by the painting. Mrs.
Susan Cann accompanied by her
daughter Annette rendered a
solo,
Plans were made for boxes for
the shut iris and a miscellaneous
shower is to be held at the
December meeting for Armagh
Home. December meeting to be

When I moved here over two years ago I naturally in-
formed my insurance agency of my new address and con-
tinued doing business with them
Imagine my surprise when I received a notice on
September 24th informing me that my renewal was due
September 12th and they wanted my instructions BEFORE
the renewal date, (a rather difficult task, wouldn't you
agree?) anyway, since I had a credit balance of $59.00 I
awaited my new policy before mailing on the balance.
Now I get a letter informing me that my policy has been
cancelled, (no explanation given) and enclosing my che-
que for $59.00.
I haven't been able to find out why this happened, can
you?
We received a detailed explanation regarding your
Automobile Insurance Policy. You may not like or approve of
their reasons, but here is the gist of their letter to us.
Notices and not renewals are sent to:
(1) Out Of Town Customers — This obviously includes your
reader.
(2) Slow Pay Customers — Your reader's 1974 premium was
due September 7th. It was finally paid up July 23rd 1975,
after numerous notices were sent, including a threat of
cancellation, On September 12th 1975 the next payment
was due but was not received until March 11th 1976. Hard-
ly an enviable record of payment. <

A friend of mine has been separated for close to two
years, He was ordered by the court to pay alimony to his
wife and up till now has done so,
Lately he was offered, and accepted a job in Winnipeg
starting the beginning of next year. I know for a fact that
the main reason he is moving West is because he thinks
that he won't have to pay his wife any more alimony, I've
told him he's crazy, but he only laughs at me.
Can he really get out of paying by moving to a different
province.
Your friend can stop laughing because there is absolutely no
way that he car/ get Out of paying alimony to his wife, and when
he moves to Winnipeg, so tea will the Ontario order for -alimony
to his wife, and this applies regardless of how many moves he
makes, or how many Provinces he makes his home in.
The only change hi his alimony payments would have to be
made by a court and the only way that that is likely to happen, is
if, he or his wife obtain a divorce and she remarries, or if there
is any change in the status of his children, (if any), otherwise he's
stuck with the original court order for alimony payments.

Pointing to the plight of the
people in the "third" and
"fourth" worlds, Major Rev.
Larry Mould told his gxeter
Legion Remembrance Day
banquet audience that Canadians
have to be more concerned with
other nations in the world.
"Let us live and share," said
the former RCAF Centralia
padre,
Heexplained there were 70
countries in the third world,
including the Mid-East, Africa,
Latin America, etc, while there
were 35 in the fourth world, which
was made up primarily of India
and Burma and their neighbors.
He said these were areas where

pressed the hope that the choice time where all hell was loose, he
the people made would not result said they couldn't understand
in war or chaos, what he was talking about.
"We must be willing to stand in "4 is difficult for people to
lowly places and be ready to give realize what has taken place in
leadership," the veteran said, the past seven decades," he said,
adding that the affluency ln "They can't comprehend the
which Canadians live places great problems and difficulties
them in a precarious position. people have experienced through
'"We can't say Canada fir- war and the real hell that men
st...we can't be like Rene • and women have gone through."
Levesque—because the answer is "It makes you wonder how
not in separatism," Rev, Mould
continued.
His address was interspersed
with anecdotes and recollections
of his days at Centralia and in his
service career.
He told of taking his children to
Vimy, and while he explained to
we'll pull out of our tailspin of
pride and foolishness,"he added.
However, he said that as a
chaplain he always told men and
women that if they need moral
and spiritual advice and com-
passion they can get it, "But it
won't come to you unless you
desire it," he concluded,
The annual Remembrance Day
banquet was chaired by Andy
Bierling, who called on several
visitors for comments.
Mayor Bruce Shaw said in his
brief remarks that the only
people who seem to care about
our past "are John Diefenbaker
and the Canadian Legion".
"But the only way to know our
future is to know where our roots
are," he commented, adding that
it was important for such oc-
casions " to consider how much
we owe to so many".
MPP Jack Riddell, replying to
the toast to the banquet visitors,
paid tribute to the work of the
Legion on the occasion of their
50th anniversary, "They play an
important role in maintaining our
way of life and are committed to
improving the circumstances of
those who need help," he ex-
plained,
"They make our community a
better place in which to live,"
Riddell concluded. me Robert McKinley said it
was encouraging to see so many
young people (there were 11
cadets in attendance) on hand.
"This gives them some idea that
they live in a wonderful country
and why they live in freedom," he
suggested.
Legion president Graham
Mason thanked everyone for
participating in the several
Remembrance Day activities
staged by the Legion.
