A Huron Park man, Richard Nesbit, has been charged with possession of stolen property as the result of an investigation by Exeter OPP and town police. OPP Constable Bill McIntyre and Exeter Constable Kevin Short executed a search warrant on a residence in Huron Park and On January 1 of the new year, all builders will have to be registered with the Ontario government before they will be allowed to get building permits for the construction of new homes. That word was passed along to Exeter council this week in a letter from the agency which will administer the New Home Warranty Program. Under the program, home buyers will have minor defects repaired within the first year after purchasing a new home and major defects that show up within the first five years will have to be repaired. The ceiling Maintenance for subdivision Works superintendent Glenn Kells has accepted a portion of Eastern Ave. in the Dow subdivi- sion for winter maintenance, However, due to the poor weather conditions faced by the subdivider, it was noted that some areas of the street are still soft and Dow has agreed to pay any towing charges for vehicles which may get stuck on the street this winter. Because the street has been accepted, building permits can now be issued for the lots. Councillor Ted Wright suggested that signs should be posted advising motorists that Eastern Ave. is not a through street and he was asked to take that suggestion up with Kells. recovered about $800 in stolen property, The property had been stolen from the Canadian Tire Store in Exeter. OPP Constables Bill McIntyre and Dale Lamont also recovered part of the liquor recently stolen from a break and enter at the Milverton LCBO store. The initial on the latter is $20,000. Councillor Garnet Hicks asked if the new regulations pertained only to new homes, or whether additions were included. Building inspector Doug Triebner advised that it involved only new homes at the present time, but he expected home ad- ditions would be included by the middle of next year, He said all area contractors had been advised they would have to register. "It's a good thing, I think," commented Councillor Ted Wright. Obituaries MRS. Set dinner for town Membeti of Exeter's ap- pointed committees will be entertained at a dinner on December 15, but council remained firm in the face of some, good-natured ribbing from a couple of employees not to provide a free meal for the town's staff. The annual dinner for the ap- pointed officials who sit on a variety of boards and com- mittees has been set for December 15. However, they decided against paying for any employees to at- tend the annual dinner for area municipal officials at the Pineridge Chalet on November 26. In fact, members of council planning to attend will have to pay their own way as well. It was pointed out to council by Clerk Eric Carscadden and his assistant, Liz Bell, that several area councils take their employees to the Pineridge event. Reeve Boyle pointed out that the other communities don't have 100 people on the payroll. GERALD L.
