women hosted the Thanksgiving
*Ecumenical Thursday evening.
The theme was "Thanks be to
God". Guests were present from
the Church of God, Catholic
Church and Greenway United
Church.
Mrs. Bill Brenner opened the
meeting with a lively sing song
with Mrs. Pat Kading at the
piano,
Mrs. Harley Moore led in the
meditation and spoke on"What is
a loaf of bread?"
Program consisted of a number
from each church attending,
From Church of God, Mrs.
Russell Snider sang a solo "If
that isn't love", accompanied by
Mrs. John Campbell on the piano.
Mrg. Philip Walker from the
Catholic Church gave two
-readings "Bankrupt" and "A
prayer of Thanksgiving",
Mrs. Martha Geromette of
Greenway United read two
poems "Trees" and "Autumn".
Guest speaker was Mrs.
George Sadler, from Union, when
she spoke on experiences of
worship she encountered on a trip
to England and all across Canada
from B.C. to Newfundland. •
An offering of $38 was received
and will be sent to the in-
terdenominational Leper
mission.
Golden Age
The October meeting of the
Golden Age club was held
Wednesday afternoon at the
Village Inn. Retreat with 35 in
attendance.
President, Bill Love, presided.
Meeting opened with 0 Canada,
Senior Citizen song and a general
sing song.
Arrangements were made td
attend the Huron County Zone 8,
fall rally to be held October 14
at Saltford Valley Hall near
Goderich.
During the social time they
played euchre and crokinole.
Lunre,hwas served by the-Inn staff.

held Wednesday at Hensall
United Church when United
Church women attended from 12
churches in the area.
The theme of this year's
Regional meeting was "Count
your blessings".
The afternoon guest speaker
was Jim Somerville, President of
Compassion of Canada,

Bend were Mrs. Joan Eagleson,
Mrs. Marlene Brenner, Mrs.
Lawrence Cur ts and Mrs. H,
Morenz,
Grand Bend supplied a musical
number in the afternoon, when
Miss Idella Gabel played a piano
instrumental.

Three collisions
are investigated
Three accidents were in-
vestigated during the past week
by officers of the Ontario
Provincial Police detachment at
the Pinery Park.
Thursday, a vehicle operated
by James Maxwell Irvine, 50
Green Acres, Grand Bend
collided with a sign on the
parking lot at Thompson-Warner
Motors. Constable G. W. Clark
listed damages at $200.
A vehicle owned-by Kenneth
William Kennedy, Brights Grove
was damaged to the extent of
$1,500 when it was in collision
with two deer on Highway 21,
south of Grand Bend. Constable
R. J, Sawyers investigated.
Sunday, vehicles operated by
Donald Alexander, Grand Pointe,
Ontario and Robert E, Welsh,
Montreal, Quebec collided on
Highway 21 at the entrance to
Beach O'Pines, south of Grand
Bend. Constable Sawyers set
damages at $275.

Pots of mums, autumn flowers,
leaves, fruits and vegetables
were tastefully arranged to make
a colourful setting for the
Thanksgiving service in the
United. Church on Sunday mor-
ning.
Rev, Beaton in his sermon
stressed the importance of giving
thanks. He made reference to the
cleansing' of the ten lepers when
only one returned to give thanks.
