With only 31 seconds remaining in the period, Stan Lovie scored for Shipka on a pass from John Becker to cut the deficit to a single goal. The tying goal was shot by John Becker on a combination with Dan Dalton and Steve Kadlecik at 4,40 of the third stanza. Only 21 seconds later, the Colonials took the lead for the first time as Paul Maguire finished off a three-way effort with Reid Burley and John Coulson. Another minute later the Colonials were ahead 5-3 on a successful shot fired by Steve Schroeder. The assist went to Pete Gill, At 13,28, Bud Gardiner com- pleted the Shipka scoring with an unassisted goal. With only four seconds left in the game, Jerry Boersma notched his second goal for Centralia as he converted passes from Jim Davis and Gerald Spruyt. Three stars were chosen following the game and they were Bud Gardiner and John Becker of Shipka and Centralia goalie Fred Munro, Penalties galore in juvenile tilt , In a penalty filled Shamrock league juvenile hockey game played Sunday night at the Exeter arena, St. Marys dumped the Exeter juveniles by a score of 9-1. More than 200 minutes in penalties were assessed by referees Pat O'Brien and George Sweeney. Play was even in the first period with each team scoring one goal. On Ilderton ice, Friday night, the Jets scored a decisive 4-1 win while the next night at the London Gardens they were forced to come up with a last minute goal to down the Kings 6-5. The Jets will be back in action on home ice at the Ilderton arena Friday night at 8.30 when the Stratford Perths will supply the opposition. Sunday afternoon they travel to Walkerton to meet the Durham Huskies. After Friday's win over the Kings, Jets manager Don Urb- shott said his club came up with an exceptional team effort. He added, "everybody played very well". The Jets held a 3-0 lead after the first two periods of play and kept London off the scoresheet until the seven minute mark of the final session, The first goal came at 4.24 of the first period when Rick Fifield deflected a blue line shot from Bill Fairbairn. Don Carter also assisted. The two L-I markers in the middle stanza came in a space of less than two minutes just past the halfway mark. Playing coach Steve De Gurse pounced on a rebound in front of the net on a shot from the point by Barry Baynharn. Larry Haugh passed the puck from the corner back to Baynham. The third goal of the night came from the stick of Randy Roth. Terry Johnson and Don Carter set Roth loose at the blue line and the former U.S. college star wasted little time in decking London goalie Ted Ouimet out of position. The only London score of the game came at 7.02 of the final period and was fired by Bob Buchanan from outside the blueline while the Kings were one man short and the Jets had two resting in the sin bin. To organize basketball A meeting will be held at the Exeter arena gym, Thursday night, November 13 in an attempt to organize a men's recreation basketball league for the winter months. Teams are expected from Goderich, Seaforth and Centralia College. It is hoped to get enough response from Exeter and area residents to form a fourth team. The November 13 meeting gets underway at 7.30 p.m. A three-way passing com- bination produced the fourth Lucan-Ilderton goal at 16.08 of the third period. Bill White was on the firing end of a play started by Barry Baynham and Jim Blake. White with the puck in front of the net faked a pass back to Blake and slid the puck into the goal. The Jets outshot the Kings by 41-29, The Jets also led in penalties with 15 of 28 minors called. Jim Blake of the Jets picked up a misconduct and major assessment while Jim Keon of London was sent off for five minutes, Johnson gets winner The winning goal in the Jets 6-5 Saturday night victory over London came at 13.39 of the third period and was shot by Terry Johnson from a scramble around the net. Jim Blake assisted, The outcome of the game was in doubt from start to finish with neither team ever having more than a one goal lead. The first period ended at 2-2 as Mac Westgate and Drew Haldane scored for London and Bill White Jets. White Fifield replied for the White deflected a shot from the point by Terry Johnson and Fifield counted on a play set up by Don Carter and Bill Fairbairn. The second period was only 40 seconds old when Rick Fifield hit the mark' from 15 feet out. Don Carter and Randy Roth assisted. About nine minutes later the Kings evened the match in a successful shot by Hugh Smibert. 'The Kings took the lead for the first time at 15.11 when Mac Westgate hit for the second time. With only 50 seconds left in the middle frame, Jets playing coach Steve De Gurse dug the puck out from behind the net and found Rick Martin loose and able to Soccer squirts to go to England Exeter Centennial soccer club president Damian Solomon announced this week that the Exeter squirts soccer team would be making a spring trip to England. A draw is being organized to gain funds to sponsor the trip. Tickets go on sale next week. The first prize is a return air flight ticket to England with the boys. Four other prizes will be given to lucky ticket holders. Randy Roth leads the Jets scorers with five goals and three assists while Rick Fifield and Don Carter have seven points apiece. Fifield has six goals and an assist while Carter's points are all assists.
