Fourteen tenders opened for
new village sewage system
Fourteen tenders bidding for
the job of installing a sewage
system for the village of Hensall
were opened Tuesday by the
Ministry of the Enviroment in
Toronto.
Hensall clerk Bob Heil told the
T-A Wednesday that the tenders
will now be studied by the
engineers and a final decision
made anywhere from two to six
weeks from now,

but as Mr, Heil explained, sewers
are necessary for any develop-

conducted the church service
accompanied at the piano by
Louise Mitchell. Mrs. Squire was
visited by her niece Mrs. Ruth
Brock, Goderich and her
daughter Mrs, Anderson, Exeter.
Visitors with Mrs. E, Sararas
were, Don and Jodi Sararas, Mr.
& Mrs. Earl Sararas, Toronto,
Roy and Clara MacDonald. Mrs.
Shirley Prouty visited Lin
Latimore and Roy McDonald.
Mr, & Mrs. Arnold Ford visited
with Mrs. Etta May Ford. Mr. &
Mrs. W. E. Parker, Bayfield
visited Clafa Featherston. Illa
Dunn, Exeter visited with Vera
Laramie and Jim McQuaid
visited Dan Mathews. Mr. & Mrs.
Jim McNaughton visited their
mother Mrs. Ada Smillie.
Mr. & Mrs. Earl Sararas of
Toronto were recent visitors with
Mr. & Mrs. Ross Sararas and Mr.
& Mrs. Roy MacDonald,
on October 15 and 16, and were
informed they had leaders for the
girls 4-11 Club. The resolutions to
be discussed at St, Thomas were
discussed and voted on and final
plans made for the exhibit at the
Fall Fairs, Joyce Pepper and
Hazel Corbett conducted the
program which consisted of a
St. Paul's A,C,W. held their
autumn meeting at the home of
Mrs, Windover on Thursday
afternoon, September 11. Vice-
president Mrs, F, Forrest opened
the meeting. The scripture
reading was taken from Luke 14
vs. 16-24 by Annie Read, Olive
Petty gave the medita tion and all
the members took part in the
Litany. A letter was read from
sing song, accordion and piano
selections by Brenda Pepper, and
everyone reading a clipping on a
recent current event, Hazel
Corbett read an article,
"Sisters." Courtesy remarks
were given by Hazel Corbett and
the meeting closed with "The
Queen".
Ven, G. T. Kaye thanking the
group for the boxes of clothing
sent and from Mrs. Anderson, a
patient in St. Joseph's Hospital,
for the gloxinia. The study book
"Don't let resentment ruin the
family", was given by Helen
Roberts. It was decided that
donations will be gratefully
received by next meeting instead
of having a bazaar and bake sale
The Women's Institute met in
the Legion Hall on Wednesday
evening, September 10 for a
delicious pot-luck supper con-
vened by hostesses Hilda Payne
and Gladys Coleman, Following
this the meeting was held with
president Hilda Payne presiding.
Roll call was answered by
bringing an article from another
country and explaining its use.
Financial report showed a
balance of $102.64. A letter of
resignation from Lois Shapter
was read and accepted with
regret. Joyce Pepper was in-
stalled as vice-president and
Marg Ingram as convener of
education and cultural activities
in Lois' place. Other
correspondence dealt with the
County Rally on October 6 at
Beigrave, the Huron County
Historical Society meetings on
September 16 at Blyth and at
Crediton on October 15, and
letters of appreciation from Nan
Britton and Nancy and Barbara
McCurdy. In other business the
members agreed to serve coffee
and cookies at the re-opening of
the Town Hall and Library on
September 25, voted for Joyce
Pepper as delegate to the London
Area Convention at St. Thomas
UCW discuss home mission

Unit 1 UCW met on Thursday
September 11 with Audrey
Christie presiding. Her
devotional theme was "Try
giving yourself away". You
cannot give yourself away,
without getting back more than
you give, if in giving, you have no
thought of reward, The theme
was continued by prayer and and
the singing of "Take my life and
let it be". Roll call was answered
by 12 members. Audrey Joynt
read three letters from our
adopted girl in Burma, and
members gave their monthly
donation, and Christmas gift for
her. The offering was given and
dedicated by Audrey Christie.
Mildred Kyle had an interesting
study on "Mission in the home".

loving answers to questions
during family discussions." After
her closing thought "The use of
life, is to spend it for something
that will outlast it" we repeated
the Benediction. Julene Keys had
an interesting contest after which

Ilene McLean served a delicious
lunch.

Mr. & Mrs. Jack Corbett at-
tended the unveiling of a plaque
at Mitchell on Sunday at the park
which was named "Howie
Morenz Memorial Gardens."
The plaque was erected by the
Ontario Heritage Foundation and
an agency within Ontario's
Ministry of Culture and
Recreation, commemorating
"Howie Morenz, one of Canada's
most outstanding hockey
players."
Mrs. Corbett, formerly Hazel
Morenz was a first cousin to the
famous hockey player. Later Mr.
& Mrs. Corbett visited with their
son-in-law and daughter Mr. &
Mrs. Robert Chaffe, Joey, Jackie
and Tony at Mitchell.
