Wot is it? contest winners This week's trio of winners in the "Wot Iz It? contest being run in the Exeter Times-Advocate are Mrs. Roy Kennedy of RR 2 Crediton, Dorothy Davis of Gidley Street in Exeter and Mrs. Gordon Heywood, Exeter. Each correctly identified the "Crystal Palace" pictured in last week's contest column. This week a new photo from Exeter's past appears and readers are reminded that to enter the contest they may pick up blanks at any participating merchants and forward them to "The Contest Editor," c,o The Times-Advocate, Exeter, Ontario. Winners are drawn each Tuesday at noon and will be announced each week in the T-A. The Huron County board ap- proved one year contracts Monday night. Custodians at 13 public schools and the board's administrative office will receive pay increases averaging 14.7 percent. Salaries will range from $8,000 to $11,000, depending on school size and man-hours required. Some large schools have union workers while smaller ones have contract workers. The new contracts will cost $157,5550 in the 1975-76 school year beginning September 1, compared with $137,350 last year. Five senior members of the board's administration office received increases averaging 14 percent. The raises, also ef- fective September 1, will cost the board $77,700 compared to $68,100 last year. The salaries range close to $15,000. 5 Chief custodians at the board's 'five high schools received in- creases averaging about 18 per- cent which will cost the board $55,500 in 1975-76. Chief custodians are not union mem- bers and the increase brings their salaries to between $11,000 and $11,700. Other high school custodians are union members and are on a contract that does not expire until next year. In addition, nine non-union clerical workers at the ad- ministration office and in the schools received increases ranging from six to nearly 20 percent. Office staff, whose salaries currently are from $5,300 to $6,600 annually, will receive from $5,600 to $8,100 beginning September 1: Trustees also turned down a request from the Goderich Pro- Life group to meet trustees and discuss a pro-life presentation program for Huron County schools.
