Because this 'run of Dolly has been booked for several weeks, there will be a return engagement August 27 to 30 at the Playhouse, for all those missing this exciting evening the first time around. "Hello Dolly" one of the time musical favotirites has been chosen to end the regular season of the Huron CoUntrY Playhouse. This lavish stage spectacular will be a fitting .climax to the series of fine professional entertainment that has been presented at the Playhouse in this, its fourth season. The familiar, fast- moving story of Dolly Levi, out to get her man, is packed with hit tunes and sparkling dialogue; one broadway musical that shouldn't be missed. Starring as Dolly Levi, is the well-known broadway performer, Jeanne Beauvais. Miss Beauvais has played leading roles throughout Canada, the United States, Europe, Asia and, the Near East, in such widely diverse fields as. drama, comedy, revue, musical comedy and opera. Notably Miss Beauvais played Tuptim opposite Yul Brynner in "The King and I", and recreated the role of Mme, Dubonnet in the latest Broadway revival of "The, Boyfriend". In addition to leading parts in "Kiss Me Kate", "The Merry Widow," "West Side Story", and "Three Penny Opera" she has performed in USO and USIS revues around the world, and recently completed a seven-week industrial show tour, in all the provinces of Canada, Don Fleckser an integral part of the UWO and London amateur theatre scene, plays the "Scroogie-like" but lovable Horace Vandergelder, As well as appearing in many productions such as "The Crucible," "Our Town", and "The Fantasticks", Mr. Fleckser has directed I#4e'4 scheduled to be on Jana were grounded in northern Quebec Where thun'derstoems kept them on the, ground, some of the show officials were on hand to describe what will be going on. Some of us weren't exactly seasoned veterans of the air but all managed to survive the flights offered by Larry Snider and Jack Nialone Theair show promises to be a dandy and the same shows run both Saturday and Sunday to give everyone a chance to see it. + + + For those of you who read last week's epistle (both of you) and were worried about my health, I'm back to normal, which isn't saying much. Unfortunately, despite my good intentions, the battle of the butts was lost but I'm still trying. + BITS 'N PIECES + „ A well known rock group, Sweet Blindness is scheduled to appear at Kelly's Boogie Parlour later this month. The big news around Grand Bend this week is the an- nouncement of two hearings for the village. The first will be August 26 at 7:30 p.m, when a public meeting Will be held regarding the zoning bylaw and official plan which the village has been working on for some time. While official plans get somewhat complicated, it would be a good idea for property owners or any interested citizens for that matter, to find out what the plan will mean for them, One of the best ways will be to attend the meeting where the entire subject will be thoroughly 'aired. And the sewers will come up for discussion at a hearing to be held by the Ontario Municipal Board on October 14 at 1:00 a.m. This meeting is a result of the written complaints about the proposed sewage system which were forwarded by the council to the O.M,B, The fact that a hearing is being held at all is a bit of a victory for those oPpesed to the sewers for the village but doesn't necessarily mean the sewers won't go ahead as scheduled. Quite frankly I canna un- derstand how the village has managed to escape the wrath of the provincial pollution con- trollers this long, As everyone is well aware, costs are climbing so quickly that the sooner the sewers are installed the better. The T-A recently acquired some figures on the pollution testing done regularly in the river at Grand Bend and I was per- sonally amazed at the terrific increase in human waste bac- teria in the river during the summer months. Granted, in the off months, the count isn't too bad and I might even be persuaded to go canoeing in the river, More on this later, + + + With the holiday season cutting into work schedules, I've been filling in for vacationing staffers in the Exeter area. Monday night the Exeter Lions Club hosted a get-together for media representatives from across the area to explain the details of their giant air show to be staged this Saturday and Sunday, While some of the stunt pilots "HELLO DOLLY" — One Broadway musical that shouldn't be missed, is the climax to the series of plays at the Huron Country Playhouse. Well-known Broadway actress Jeanne Bauvais is Dolly. Sold out this time around, 'Dolly' will return August 27 to 30, T-A photo. . . Now would be a good time to pick up some summer clothes. Various Grand Bend merchants, particularly clothing merchants, are right in the middle of summer clearance sales and you can pick up some items at half price. Big things at the Missing Piece these days. The ping pong tournament on the weekend was a little disappointing. One player from Toronto was a little ahead of the rest of the field and "cleaned up” in short order to take the championship, . . . On Friday the Missing Piece will be holding a special program starting at four in the afternoon when there will be a workshop for area kids staged by Caravan Theatre, There will be a corn • roast from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. and after the corn on the cob, a play will be presented by Caravan Theatre.
