Hensall United Church was the setting for the August 9 wedding of
Joan Marie Allan and Wayne Edward Beierling, The groom is the son
of Mr. and Mrs. Herb Beierling of RR 2 Zurich and the bride is the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Garnet Allan of Henson. Rev. Beck per-
formed the ceremony. Matron of honour was Marg McDonald of Ex-.
eter, sister of the bride. Other attendants were Pauline McBride of
Goderich, sister of the bride and Ryby Beierling of Zurich, sister of the
groom, Best man was Don Tawton of Hensall and ushers were Donald
McBride of Goderich and Gordon Beierling of Exeter, brother of the
groom. The couple will reside at Varna.

Carolyn Irene Glanville and Terry Lee Pfaff were united in marriage
June 27 at Thames Road United Church with Rev. Barry Robinson of-
ficiating, Carolyn is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs, Charles Glanville, RR
I Hensall, and Terry is the son pf Mr, and Mrs. Emery Pfaff, RR 2
Crediton. Maid of honour was Sharon Rader, London, friend of the
bride. Best man was Wm Phillips, Kitchener, friend of the groom. Other
attendants were Valerie Glanville, RR 1 Hensall, Julie Pfaff, RR 2
Crediton, Murray Glanville, Exeter, Russell Pfaff, Crediton. Marlene
Glanville, Hensall, was soloist for her sister, and Agnes Bray, RR l
Kirkton, was organist. Les Waller, Dashwood, was the master of
ceremonies. After a honeymoon to Lake Placid, New York State and
the Thousand Islands the couple will reside at RR 1 Gadshill.

their 48th wedding anniversary on Saturday and were guests of the
Gregus family at a dinner in their honour at the Golden Bamboo
Restaurant in Stratford. John and Mary farmed for many years on the
second concession of BiddulphTwp. until retiring 10 years ago to their

ingredients are few but they must
be just right. Here are a few hints
for making really good pickles,
from food specialists at the
Ontario Food Council, Ministry of
Agriculture and Food.
- Use only fresh, firm fruits and
vegetables - the fresher the
better. Fruits may be slightly.
underripe but vegetables should
be fully ripe. Use only pickling
cucumbers, fresh from the vine.
Hollow pickles result from
cucumbers that have been sitting
for more than a few hours before
pickling,
Use coarse pickling salt rather
than free-running iodized salt.
The fillers in iodized salt, may
make the brine cloudy and the
iodine may turn it dark.
Spices lose their flavor with
age. Use fresh spices each
pickling season. Tie spices
together in a cheesecloth so that
they can be removed easily from
the brine.
Use white sugar,. and white
vinegar for light-colored pickles,
such as onions and cauliflower.
Brown sugar and cider vinegar
give a special flavor to darker
pickles and relishes.
Vinegar is crucial to any pickle
for flavor and crispness; never
dilute it more than indicated in
the recipe. For milder flavor, add
extra sugar rather than less
vinegar.
Your pickles should be stored
for at least four weeks before
serving, to allow flavors to

Saturday, August 2, was a red
letter day for at least 200
'residents of the Home who were
able to enjoy the Centennial
parade.
We are very proud of the fact
that the Huronview float won 1st.
prize in its class of clubs and
organizations and received a
lovely trophy and twenty-five
dollars. The residents appreciate
all those who helped in so many
ways to make the day a success.
To the members of the staff who
gave their time and provided
cars for transportation, for the
donation to the expense of the
bus, to Ball and Mutch, Beatties,
Archer's Farm Supply and Huron
County Museum who loaned
articles and equipment. to the
Clinton Hospital and Margaret
and Clark Ball for the use of their
lawns. Many thanks. •

MR. AND MRS. WILLIAM H. INCH
Barbara Ann Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs, Grant Smith of Huron
Park, and William Herbert Inch, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Inch of
Exeter, were united in marriage at a July 19 ceremony at Exeter United
Church in Exeter. Rev. H. Wilson officiated at the ceremony. Maid of
honour was sister of the bride Donna Smith of Cobaurg. Nancy Smith
of Stratford, sister of the bride was bridesmaid along with Marilyn
Taylor of Brucefield, cousin of the bride. Douglas Ferguson of Exeter
was best man and ushers were David Smith of Huron Park, brother of
the bride, and Rick Stagg of Exeter. The bride's sister, Christine Smith,
was flower girl while Bruce Inch of Alliston, cousin of the groom, was
ring bearer. Following a wedding trip to Niagara Falls and the United
States, the couple took up residence at Huron Park.

provide the "Family Night"
program, Miss Nancy Hearn of
Clinton, danced two Scottish
numbers, Miss Evelyn Ben-
jamins played her own guitar
accompaniment for vocal solos
and Mrs. Elsie Henderson en-
tertained with piano in-
strumentals.
