Mrs. Dora fiinglend of Rochester, New York. Mr, & Mrs. Elmer Summer are spending a weeks vacation at Nine Mile Lake with Mr. & Mrs, Earl Middleton. ' Mr. Wilfred Riddell ,and Mr. James Hodgins flew to Des Moines, Iowa fora few days last week. They were on a farm tour sponsored through United Co-op and visited the University of Iowa and researchcentres during their tour. Mrs. Wesley Shier of Thamesford was vacationing last week with Mabel MeNaughton and visited with some of her former friends in the village. Mrs. Kieth Fawcett of St. Marys and Susan Mark. of Win- nipeg, Manitoba visited with Mr, Hubert Hodgins on Wednesday of last week. Mr. & Mrs. William'Pennington celebrated their twenty-sixth wedding anniversary up at their campsite at Pinehurst on the weekend. Mr. & Mrs. Kenneth Hodgins, Mrs. Lois Herbert and family motored to. Anglican church Sunday School picnic The Anglican church held a picnic Friday on the, church grounds for the children. Mrs. Donna Acres and Mrs. Dianna Beatson, organizers of the event, supervised races and games and everyone enjoyed lunch and refreshments. Church news At Granton United Church Sunday, Mr. John Harlton con- ducted the morning services in the absence of Rev. Mary Menally. Guest speakers were Dr, & Mrs. Robert Hilliard of Toronto, They spoke about their missionary work in Africa where Dr. Hilliard and his wife, a nurse, help run a hospital at Kenya. Both Dr. & Mrs. Hilliardand their children are returning to Africa in the fall. Bridal show,er Saturday evening at Granton Masonic Hall, a family bridal shower was held hosted by Mrs, Ivor Lindsay in honour of her niece Mary, Joan Bannerman.
