I became a mother for the first time a few months
ago and recently had a man at my door who said he
had an embossed photo album for me for FREE.
I was naturally very suspicious, and soon discovered "
that in order to get it I have to sign up with a photo
studio for 12, 8x10" pictures of my baby or any other
member of my fcimily,Two to be taken annually for six
years. The cost is $120 to be paid off at $20 down and
$10 for the next 10 months. I still think that it's a good
offer but am wondering if it's on the "up and up."
Some years ago there were quite a fevv of these album
plans in existence, most of whom were American companies
and quite legitimate, but since you don't mention the com-
pany whose representative called on you we have no way of
checking. We at "IMPACT" are genuinely surprised why
anyone has to pay for something in full and then have to wait
for six years in order to reap the full benefit . . . however
that's your decision to make and we do not want to influence
you in any way.
If you want "IMPACT" to check out this firm we'll be glad
to do so if you'll forward us their name and address.

I read your "IMPACT" column each week with in-
terest and am glad there is this service.
I was recently offered some land in Florida. The deal
sounds very attractive but I'm rather hesitant to jump
into anything done on the telephone. I told the caller
this and he agreed to mail me some literature. This has
just arrived, but now I'm wondering if it's quite legal to
purchase land in another country.
Could you advise me regarding this or put me in
touch with someone who can? Thank you.
Yes, it's quite legal to own property in a country other than
Canada. You have no problem in that regard; however the
land has to be registered first before it can be offered for sale
outside of Ontario.
The people to contact before making a deal you may later
regret are in the FOREIGN LANDS OFFICE, in the REGISTRAR
OF REAL ESTATE BROKERS, 555 YONGE STREET,
TORONTO, Their telephone number is 365.2504.

I was born in Michigan but brought back to Canada
by my parents when I was two or three months old. I've
lived all my life here apart from that short period.
Naturally I was educated in this country and I pledged
allegiance to the Canadian flag when I went on staff at
a government hospital several years ago. I also married
a Canadian and we have four children all born here.
I'm anxious to get some kind of proof that I am a
Canadian and also I was wondering if my place of birth
has any effect on the nationality of our children,
Any information and help you can give me will be
greatly appreciated.
In our opinion the fact that you were born in the U.S.A.
means that you are an American citizen, but the people to see
for help with this matter are to be found in the COURT OF
CANADIAN CITIZENSHIP at 457 Richmond Street in Lon-
don, Ontario. If you wish to phone for an appointment their
number is 679-4334.
Regarding your children, they are NOT affected by your
place of birth and are all Canadians.
