CARDS POPULAR — Members of the Grand Bend Senior Citizens Club turned out in large numbers Wednesday for a 'dinner meeting at the Village Inn Retreat in Grand Bend, Following the business part of the meeting, members broke off for cards and crokinole before the dinner. Mrs. George Lee opened the meeting with a devotional pertaining to flowers. Hymn "We Plough the Fields and Scatter" was sung. The scripture was read by Mrs. Marjorie Steeper followed by prayer by Mrs. Lee. A reading "Faith Plants a Promise" and "The Earth is the Lord's" was given by Mrs. Mar- jorie Steeper. Mrs. Lee gave a poem on "The hearts Garden" followed by a second reading. Eleven members answered the roll call. Tickets for the chicken barbecue were given out. Group 3 ladies served lunch. Church anniversary Quite a number of Brinsley members gathered in Ailsa Craig church on June 6 to celebrate 50 years since the beginning of the "United Church". Many at anniversary The program included a skit "Down Memory Lane" which was made up of a few words, a little music, and old-time dress. A little girl' arid boy, as childhood sweethearts, were portrayed at different stages of their life. Finally "Jeanie and ; Johnny" met at the altar with the best wishes of the guests. Some other ladies modelled wedding gowns of different eras. Those taking part in the skit were called back to the stage and in unison, wished a 50th birthday greeting to the Church. The rite of baptism was ad- ministered by Rev. C. Westhaver to Jamie John Tweddle, son of Mr. & Mrs. Jack Tweddle during the church service Sunday. Mr. & Mrs. Harvey Morley were Sunday dinner guests at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Perry Harris of Thamesford. Mrs. Jack Trevithick and Mrs. George Prest attended the Shipka folk attend festival By MRS. Sunday visitors with Mr. & Mrs. Jack Pickering were their grandson Justin, Mr. & Mrs, Andy Keogh of Lucan and Mr, & Mrs. Stuart. Sweitzer of Grand Bend. Bob Adams, Harold Vincent and Carman Lovie, returned Friday from a week's fishing trip to Manitoulin Island, where they stayed at the Lovie cottage. Susan . Zielman and other classmates of Grade 8 from Stephen Central school were on a bus trip to Niagara Falls on Monday. The "Ratz" reunion picnic was held Sunday evening at the Shipka Community centre. Mr. & Mrs. Murray Evans of Lambeth attended the "Ratz" reunion picnic and also visited her brother, Mr. & Mrs. Milton Sweitzer. Mr. & Mrs. Dick Zielman, Ruth, Susie, Debbie and Angie attended the service Sunday morning at Exeter United Church, when guests were the 40- voice Leamington United Mennonite male chorus, of which Mrs. Zielman's brother, Bill Janzen is a member.
