Appetites take beating
in Ailsa Craig area
By JOY SCHEIFELE
For anyone on a diet, this must
have been a difficult week with
the number of banquets and
picnics in the area! Certainly
many were in attendance at the
annual minor hockey association
banquet which was felt to be
another great success. The at-
tendance was estimated at nine
hundred,
The United Church has had a
busy week again with special
anniversary services and
programmes. One of the most
entertaining evenings took place
on Friday when the anniversary
committee planned a special
programme.
A skit entitled, "Down Memory
Lane" was the hit of the night! It
followed the romance of two
childhood sweethearts through to
their wedding day with a great
deal of insight and humour, Doug
McNair played the part of the
groom - who almost missed his
own wedding - and Betty
Sutherland did a delightful scene '
playing the part of a well-
informed neighbour!
The script was specially
written by Mrs. Margie Steeper
of the congregation, and directed
by Mrs. Fran Chamberlain.
The Friday Morning Coffee
Hour is relocating this month now
to the K.O.A, camp for the
summer again. This has proved
to be a much appreciated well-
attended Bible Study. Anyone
who is interested, is welcome to
"drop in" at anytime and join the
group.
Ailsa Craig continues to grow
as we note that the Post Office
itself has had to make
renovations recently and install
more mail boxes in the general
delivery section! It is nice to
know the town is growing.
