members of the bowling club will
not accept the fact they don't own
the facility.
The clubhouse and greens are
now owned by the town and ad-
ministered by RAP.

Douglas Lloyd Smith, of
Elizabeth St. St. Marys formerly
of Woodham, passed away
suddenly in Blanshard Township,
Saturday June 7 in his twenty-
first year.
He was the son of Lloyd and
Shirley Smith. Also surviving are
one sister Dianne of London, and
a grandmother Mrs. Orville
(Molly Brock) Roger of London.
Douglas was an apprentice
mechanic with St. Marys Motors,
and was continuing for a cer-
tificate from Fanshawe College,
London.
He was a member of the
Kirkton-Woodham Combines,
and the Downie Juniors ball
teams.

funeral service was held Tuesday
June 10 with the Rev, R. N.

Geesje "Grace" Kats, Exeter,
died in South` Huron Hospital on
Tuesday. She was 67 and is
survived by her husband, John
Kats.
She was the mother of Mrs.
John (Sieny) Lamberink of
Freelton, and Aleida, at home;
sister of Klaas Booy, London, and
Jo Booy, Assen, Holland. Also
surviving are five grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held
Thursday, June 12 at the Bethel
Reformed Church, Exeter, with
interment in Exeter cemetery.
Rev. Henry VanEssen will
officiate at the service.

MACKENZIE
Charles Sterling MacKenzie of
800 Exmouth Street, Sarnia, died
in Sarnia General Hospital on
Tuesday, June 10, 1975,
Born in Varna, Ontario, Mr.
MacKenzie was a petroleum
dealer in the Sarnia area. He was
a member of the Brigden Leopold
Lodge and a member of Dunlop
United Church in Sarnia.
Surviving to mourn his loss are
his wife, the former Aerial May
Beverley, a daughter Mrs. T.C.
(Jean) Michaud of Wisconsin,
three sons Beverley Charles of
Burlington, Douglas W. and W.
Stuart, at home,
He was predeceased by two
sisters and three brothers.
Mr. Mackenzie is resting at the
Stewart Funeral Home in Sarnia
where funeral service will be
conducted on Thursday af-
ternoon, June 12, at one o'clock,

Charles Miller Wilson, 75, of
RR 6, St. Marys passed away
suddenly at his residence, lot 10
Base Line of Blanshard Town-
ship, Saturday, June 7.
He was born in Blanshard
township November 3, 1899 and
was the son of the late Benjamin
and Annie Wilson.
He is survived by brothers
Gordon RR 6, St. Marys and John
of Toronto. Two brothers
predeceased him.
The late Mr. Wilson rested in
the Lindsay Funeral Home, St.
Marys where funeral services
were held Monday, June 8. The

Bicyclist
breaks arm
Only one motor vehicle ac-
cident was reported by the
Exeter Police Department
during the past week,
On Saturday, a 1968 Mercury
truck driven by Kenneth
Crawford of Lucan and a 1975
Oldsmobile Cutlass driven by
Marten Dykstra of Exeter
collided on Wellington Street with
$50 damage resulting. Police said
the truck backed into the car.
Exeter Police are looking for a
vehicle believed to have been
involved in a hit and run ac-
cident. The car is red or orange
with a white stripe across the
back and has dual exhaust. The
car is damaged on the right side.
Anyone having information about
the car should call Exeter Police
at 235-1235.
On Monday night, Exeter
Police investigated a mishap at
the Exeter fairgrounds where
Tom Gilchrist of Huron Park fell
from a bicycle and broke his left
arm. He was taken to South
Huron District Hospital by
Hoffman Ambulance. Constable
McMeekin investigated.
The; police department has a
pocket calculator which was
found on Victoria Street East on
June 9. The owner should call at
the police office,
Three persons have been
charged in connection with a
breakin at the Zip • Car Wash
where thieves attempted to
remove money from the coin box
on -Monday, June 9.
Exeter's RAP committee this
week endorsed a decision
reached by their facilities
committee over the sharing of the
local lawn bowling clubhouse.
The decision reached calls for
the bowlers to have use of the
facility from May 15 to October 15
and the euchre club to have use of
the room for the other six months
of the year.
The plan will be in effect for
one year.

Pool to open
this weekend
The Exeter and area swim-
ming pool is expected to be open
this weekend.
Alvin Willert advised RAP that
the painting has been completed
and the pool will be filled. He said
the filling had to be completed by
today (Thursday) because the
PUC planned to start pumping
from their new, water storage
tower on Nelson Street and
wanted the pool filled prior to
that time. 1'
Pool superv,isor Sue Atkinson
attended Monday's RAP meeting
and indicated that requests had
been received from Huron Hope
School for the Retarded and ARC
Industries, Dashwood, to use the
pool this year.
Stephen sign
to halt dogs
Officials of the London Humane
Society have completed an
agreement with Stephen town-
ship to carry out regular dog
.patrols in theanunicipality.
For a fee of $1,200 per year,
London based officers will patrol
the Huron Park area and the
police villages of Centralia,
Crediton and Dashwood once a
week,
The patrols are expected to
start in mid-June. Any stray
animals will be taken to the
London Humane Society pound.
Council has increased the
maximum amount for tile drain
loans to $200 per acre from $150 to
a limit of 75 percent of total cost
of construction.
Commenting on the increase
clerk Wilmar Wein said that
systematic draining costs would
now be at least $300 per acre.
A land severance application
from Len Veri at lot 19, Con-
cession 2 was approved and a
similar request from Robert
Pfaff at lot 11, Concession 7 was
rejected.
Township drainage engineer
Lorne Dietrich will be the site
inspector during construction of
the Stanlake municipal drain in
Grand Bend.
Engineer C. P. Corbett was
instructed to proceed with plans
for the Martene drain at lot 16,
North Boundary Concession. .

Marlene Fraser, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Keith Fraser of RR 1 St.
Marys, received a Bachelor of
Science degree in Nursing from
the University of Western Ontario
on Friday, June 6. She received
her earlier education at Mt. Plea-
sant Public School and Mitchell
District High School. Marlene has
accepted aposition as Public
Health Nurse with the Huron
County Health Unit.

Barbara J. Brown, daughter of

Ontario on the Dean's Honour List
