Three consecutive goals in the
third period by Paul Boudreau
gave the Stratford Perths a 7-4
victory over the Lucan-Ilderton
Jets, Tuesday night in Stratford.
The win, the first for the Perths
in the Ontario Hockey
Association Senior Continental
final round kept their playoff
hopes alive after the Jets won the
first three games.
The Jets won the third game of
the series 5.3 in Ilderton Wed-
nesday.
The fifth game of the series was
played in Ilderton last night,
Wednesday. If a sixth game is
necessary it will be back in
Stratford, Friday night at 8.15
p,m.
If the series goes the limit the
seventh and deciding game would
take place at the Ilderton arena,
Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m.
The Jets were able to battle
back from a 3-1 deficit at the end
of the first period to get on even
terms at 4-4 after 40 minutes Of
play but Boudreau salted the
Stratford victory away in the
final session.
Penalties played a big part in
the scoring. The only L-1 marker
of the first period came at 11.46,.
Barry Baynham drilled a low
shot into the net from near the
blue-line. Charlie Robertson of
the Perths was off at the time
serving the second of two minor
penalties.
The second Stratford score by
Ron Scholl came at 17.42 of the
Bill Brady's Bunny Bundle at
CFPL radio in London should
receive a considerable boost with
contributions from two canoe
races in the area in the near
future.
The biggest of them all, the
battle of the canoes along the
Thames River from St. Marys to
London has been postponed until
Sunday, April 20. Anyone wishing
to enter may still do` so by con-
tacting John Calcott at Granton.
. This Saturday Randy Collins
and his cohorts at Hully Gully
near Varna will be staging their
second annual canoe race.
The races get underway on the
river just east of Hully Gully at 1
p.m. sharp and the events go
regardless of weather conditions.
The race course has been
shortened this year to 14 miles
and six different classifications
have been organized.
The novelty class is open to a
craft of any kind including row
boat, dinghy, dug-out, bathtub,
etc. The mixed family division is
open to husbands and wives or
parents and children under the
ages of 14.
Next come the men's amateur,
kayak, open and touring
divisions. The touring class is
open to any non-competitor who
would like to liesurely paddle
along the course in support of
Bunny Bundle.

first frame with Jack Nairn and
Bill Fairbairn of the Jets resting
in the penalty box, Immediately
after Scholl's goal Fairbairn was
given a game misconduct by
referee Wayne Marshall,
Mike Guimopd opened the
game )scoring, for the Perths at
2.10 of the first period and Mark
Daoust hit with a successful shot
with only 50 seconds left in the
first 20 minutes.
The Jets got back in the run-
ning at 4.44 of the second period
when Jack Nairn stole the puck at
the Stratford blue-line 'and hit
Doug Galloway with a good pass
close to the net and the veteran
captain made no mistake in
depositing the puck behind Perth
netminder Ken Hyde,
At the 10.59 mark, the Jets got
back on even terms with the
opposition when Barry Baynham
let a shot go from the point, The
puck was deflected several times
and hit Jack Nairn's stick in front
and bounced into the net.
The Perths moved ahead
again, this time 4-2 only two
minutes later on a seemingly
harmless long shot by Terry
Uniac which evaded Lorne Daer
In the L-1 goal.
The Jet took advantage of two
major penalties to Peter
Palenczny at 14.10, Bill White
picked up one five minute penalty
at the same time.
Jim Blake finished off a neat
three-way passing effort with
Jamie Robb and Barry Baynham

Drive in soon,
to square matters on the
scoreboard with three minutes
left in the period.
Dick Doughty was sent off at
19.38 of the second session and the
Jets were still playing a man
short when Paul Boudreau fired
the eventual winning goal at 1.26
of the third frame.
Boudreau's second goal at 13,11
pretty well took the steam out of
the Jets scoring attack and he
added another with only a few
seconds remaining.
Despite a total of D. goals, both
netminders Lorne Baer of the
Jets and Stratford's Ken Hyde
played well coming up with many
key stops as defences lapsed at
times.
Five goals in the first period
and solid goal tending by Lorne
Daer allowed the Jets to take the
third game on Ilderton ice
Wednesday night by a score of 5-
3.
The game was only 59 seconds
old when Jim Blake hit the mark
for the Jets on a two way effort
with Jacques Cousineau and Jeff
Craig,
At 7.01 it was Jeff Craig's turn
to fire a successful shot on a
power play with Rick Fifield and
Jack Nairn assisting.
The L-I lead went to 3-0 near
the halfway mark when Steve
Proctor beat Ken Hyde in the
Stratford net. Proctor took a
swing at a flying rebound and
connected about knee high with
the puck and it went directly into
the goal
In the next minute each team
was able to score one goal and the
Jets maintained their three goal
margin on the scoreboard.
Mark Daoust was the Perths
marksman on a power play with
Jeff Craig of the Jets resting hi
the penalty box.
The fourth goal of the contest
for the Jets again came from the
stick of Jim Blake as he was in
the right spot in front of the
Stratford net to bang in Jamie
Robb's rebound. Jacques
Cousineau also assisted.
With less than two minutes
remaining in the opening session,
playing Jack Nairn completed a
three-way combination with
Steve Proctor and Doug
Galloway.
The second period was
scoreless and John St. Cyr and
Ken Hishon fired goals for
Stratford in the third period.
The winner of the Jets-
Stratford series will meet either
the Barrie Flyers or Brantford
Flyers in the first round of
playdowns leading to the Allan
Cup. Barrie leads the best-of-
seven series two games to one.
The fourth game was played last
night, Wednesday.

cessful shots to lead the Newby

fashion were Ed Kerslake, Bob
Jones, Gary Parsons, Tom Watt,
Dale Skinner and Bob McDonald.

Overholt and Ron Moore.
