The Exeter Times-Advocate, 1975-03-20, Page 11A combined choir of 50 voices and an organ recital will feature the dedication of a new organ at Bethel Reformed Church in Exeter Sunday night at 7.30 p.m. The choir will be conducted by Al De Haan of Exeter and will be composed of members from the Clinton and Exeter Christian Reformed congregations. Members of the R. E. Pooley Exeter branch of the Royal Canadian Legion will assist in the dedication service. The organ is being dedicated on behalf of those who lost their lives in World Wars I and II and particularly during the l iberation of The Netherlands. A special organ recital will be conducted by Jan Overduin of London, Ontario. He has established an enviable reputation for concert ap- pearances on the European continent, in GreatBritain and the United States in addition to this country. In 1960 Jan Overduin became the first and so far the only person to take both associate and Jan Overduiri fellowship diplomas of the Royal Canadian College of Organists at One sitting. The new organ is a Baldwin C 630 with two full manuals and full pedal. The decision by church officials to obtain the organ was reached last fall after a suc- cessful pledge drive. List price of the organ is close to $8,000. A few changes had to be made in the church building to allow the organ to sound at its best. The purchase of the organ was the second major acquisition by Bethel Reformed church recently, The first was the purchase of a parcel of land directly adjacent to the north of the church property. The present lot is now 300 feet by 230 feet. Proceeds of the offering from Sunday night's service will go to the hunger relief fund of Com- passion of Canada Ltd. @Step lowers Capture the hope . . . the love and the miracle of rebirth to lift our spirits and rekindle our strengths.
