This committee would be a co-ordinating body concerned with providing services to seniors in matters such as housing, health care, . transportation, visiting services, tax form assistance, recreation, etc. Several proposals for the formation of this committee will be detailed at the meeting. People interested in the welfare of seniors in any aspect are invited to attend. Council, Town of Exeter Day of Prayer, at Saintsbury By MRS. HEBER DAVIS SAINTSBURY The World Day of Prayer service was held at the home of Mrs. Hugh Davis. In the absence of the president Mrs. Larry Greenlee, Mrs. Savary was first assisted by several ladies with the Scripture readings. Second leader was Mrs. Charles Atkinson, third. Mrs. Harry Carroll, fourth. Mrs. Hugh Davis, fifth Mrs. Earl Greenlee. The rector Rev. Savary ad- dressed the ladies. Mrs. Hugh Davis accompanied her daughter Heather who sang "The Key to the Kingdom." The hostess served refresh- Merits. The regular ACW meeting followed with the secretary reports. The mystery prize donated by Mrs. Ron Carroll, was won by Mrs. Heber Davis. Persona Is Mr. & Mrs. Wayne Love and Fayann were visitors with Mr. & Mrs. Clarence Davis on Wed- nesday. Mr. & Mrs, Heber Davis ac- companied their son and daughter-in-law Mr. & Mrs. Hugh Davis to New Hamburg where the latter attended the Lucan-Ilderton Jets Hockey game and the former visited with their cousin Mrs. Jessie Cox. The cottage service on Sunday was held at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Earl Greenlee. Mr. & Mrs.Ron Carroll and children and Mrs. Edythe Mugford, Lucan had dinner in London Sunday observing Ron and Edyth's birthdays. Mr. & Mrs. Harry Carroll and Mr. & Mrs. Heber Davis were guests Saturday evening at the 40th anniversary party for Mr. & Mrs, Tom Kooy at the Com- munity Centre, Centralia, Monday they were guests with Mr, & Mrs. H. A. Mullins, Lon- don, Nepal speaker at Kirkton Dulcie Ventham, the ad- ministrator and business manager at Tansen in Nepal will be speaking Sunday at the United churches in Kirkton and Woodham. Miss Ventham, is part of an interdenominational mission to Nepal. The hospital she administrates is in charge of such activities as the training of midwives and community health workers to go into the more isolated regions of this Himalayan kingdom. Before going to Nepal, Miss Ventham had 20 years experience as a hospital business manager in ; India. There she worked for four years with Dr, Robert McClure, the former moderator of the United Church of Canada. She was actively involved in the growing co-operation in medical work and nursing education among the various denominations. She helped in advances in this area, along with the assuming of responsiblity by Indians themselves, After her furlough in 1971 Miss Ventham did not return to India but accepted the invitation to Nepal. She will be speaking in the Woodham church at 10 a.m. and in Kirkton at 1:15 a.m. Informal question and answer periods will be held in each church. HP wins over Exeter 'B' club A Shamrock bantam contest saw Huron Park ring up a lop- sided 12-1 win over the Exeter "B" team. Perry Healey led the Huron Park scoring attack with a five goal performance. Ross Black was next in line with three suc- cessful shots and Bob Lawrence, Rick Roy, Doug Barnard and Ralph Wells added singles. The lone Exeter marker came from the stick of David Cann on a solo dash. St, Marys downed Exeter 4-1 in a recent Shamrock "B" playoff game The only Exeter goal came in the third period when David Bell scored on an unassisted effort. By MRS, WILLIAM ROHDE THAMES ROAD Jack Stewart was in charge of the church service on Sunday owing to the absence of the minister, Mrs. Glenn Jeffery led in prayer. Mrs. Reg Hodgert told the children's story. A panel discussion "Should This Church Slay Open" was chaired by Mrs. Edwin Miller, the following were on the panel: Sandra Stewart, Mrs, Robert Hume, Barry Jef- fery and Donald Bray. Mrs, Donald Kernick gave the closing prayer. UCW meet at Brinsley By GORDON MORLEY BRINSLEY The Brinsley UCW met Wed- nesday at the home of Mrs. Fred Lewis with eight ladies being present. The meeting opened by singing hymn "Sweet the Moments" and Mrs. Jack Hodgson had the devotional reading followed by prayer by Mrs. Marjorie Steeper. Mrs. Fred Lewis gave a reading on "Lent" and Mrs. Edwin Morley read two poems. "Beyond the Cross" and "Easter." Reading "Religion and Life" was given by Mrs. Wilbert Lewis and Kathleen Morley read "The Day radishes crowned a cross"followed by Mrs. George Lee a poem on "Lent." Six euchre tables There were six tables in play last Friday evening for the euchre at Brinsley Community Centre. Prizes went to ladies high, Mrs. Wilbert Lewis; low, Mrs. Roy Hodgins; lone, Mrs. Olive Atkinson; men's high, Earl Lewis; low, Evan Hodgins; lone, Alonzo Hodgins. Mrs. Harold Guilfoyle won the prize for being the nearest date to her birthday. Mr. & Mrs. Joe Carter and Mr. & Mrs. Jack Trevithick are conveners for the next party to be held March 21. Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd Odd, of London were Sunday visitors with her father Cecil Ellwood. Deepest sympathy goes to Mr. & Mrs. Cecil Hartle and family in the death of Edward Hartle, of Sarnia who was buried on Tuesday. Carmen Krains, spent Friday evening with Cindy Prest, Mr. & Mrs. George Prest and Cindy were Friday night visitors with Mr. & Mrs, Bill Fenton and family, Mr. & Mrs. Joe Amos and Mr. & Mrs. Irwin McAlpine returned home Friday, after enjoying a three weeks vacation in Florida. World Day of Prayer The postponed World Day of Prayer service was held on Monday afternoon with 20 ladies in attendance.
