ROBERT LAING CROMARTY The new president, Mrs. Frank Hamilton, was in charge of the January meeting of the Marian Ritchie Evening Auxiliary on Tuesday afternoon, The worship service on Epiphany from the Glad Tidings was used with Mrs. Eldon Allen, Mrs, Robert Laing and Mrs. Gordon Scott assisting. Mrs. Lorne Elliott gave the dedicatory prayer for the offering. Mrs. Carter Kerslake gave a report on the annual meeting of Stratford Presbyterial of the W.M.S. The group decided to donate one dollar per member toward the Yokahoma Church and Nursery School project in honour of the centennial an- niversary of the Presbyterian Church in Canada. Seven members answered the roll call with a New Year's thought and the payment of the membership fee. The auxiliary decided to have more cookbooks printed if they can be done at a reasonable price, Eleven cards and seven visits to shut-ins were reported. Mrs. John Templeman gave a reading, "What Is a Farmer?" and the meeting closed with a unison benediction. The remainder of the afternoon was spent quilting. The meeting was held at the home of Mrs. Gordon Scott. Presbyterian Church meeting The annual meeting of Cromarty Presbyterian Church was held on Sunday evening. Following a pot luck supper, the minister, Rev, Wilfred Jarvis opened the meeting with meditation and prayer, ,Jean Carey was elected secretary. The annual reports of the secretaries and treasurers of the following organizations were read and approved; Board of Managers, Session, Women's Missionary Society, Marian Ritchie, Ladies' Aid, Explorers, Trustees, Sunday School, Cemetery Board, Cromhenex and Cradle roll. Officers elected for 1975 were: auditors - Eldon Allen, John Wallace; Sunday School Superintendents - Mrs. Thos. L. Scott, Mrs. Jean Carey; library - Mrs. Thomas L. Scott, Mrs, John Templeman, Mrs. Gordon Laing; these days - Mrs. Calder McKaig; Cradle Roll - Mrs. Carter Ker- slake; Cemetery Comm. - Calder McKaig, Thos. Scott, Carter Kerslake; Gordon Laing, Jack Hoggarth, Otto Walker; Trustees - Gordon Scott, Otto Walker, Robert Gardiner; Managers - for 1 year - 0. Walker, Philip James, Gordon Scott; for 2 years - Robert Templeman, John Scott, Laird Ruston, for 3 years -Mrs. Glen Elliott, Robert Laing, Alec Scott; Church Treasurer - Mrs. G. Elliott; Record Secretary - Mrs. Eldon Allen. There was discussion regar- ding placing an insurance policy to cover fire, weather and liability insurance on the church. The procedure for choosing 2 new elders was also discussed. A budget allocation of $950.00 was accepted by the congregation, A committee made up of one representative from each organization in the church, with Mervin Dow as chairman, was formed to organize a project in honour of the Centennial an- niversary of the Presbyterian Church in Canada. Rev, Jarvis closed the meeting with the benediction. Barry Robinson called the annual meeting to order by giving an opening prayer, Annual meet at Brinsley By GORDON MORLEY Preceded by a delicious' pot- luck supper, the annual meeting of the Brinsley United Church was held on Thursday evening January 23 in the basement of the church with the Rev. Westhaver in the chair, Douglas Lewis acted as secretary. Encouraging repOrts were received from the church treasurer, Sunday School secretary-treasurer, U.C.W. treasurer, Mission and Service treasurer and the Mar's Hill and Ebenezer treasurer. On reviewing the work and achievements an increase was noted both financially and numerically in most groups. The officers were re-elected for another term, with some necessary additions and replaterrients, Among" the items of new business, plans will be made later for the United Church 50th anniversary. Grateful appreciation was expressed to Rev. & Mrs. Westhaver for their untiring efforts in all phases of work here. The meeting adjourned following prayer by Rev. Westhaver. Euchre party A very successful euchre party was held in the Brinsley Com- munity Centre Friday evening, January 24 with 12 tables in play. Ladies high prize went to Mrs. Harvey Hodgins, lone - Mrs. Don Allen, low - Mrs. Otto Darling. men's high - Harvey Hodgins,p lone - Charlie Rollings; low - Harold Egan, Next party will be held February 7 with Mr. & Mrs. Earl Lewis and Mrs. Marjorie Steeper in charge. Persona Is Mrs. Erle Hamilton is a patient in the University Hospital, London. Mr. & Mrs. Harvey Morley visited Miss Verna Greenlee, Elmer and Bert, Exeter on Wednesday. Bradley Steeper had the misfortune to fracture his collar- bone last week while at school. Mrs. Edna Woodburn, Grand Bend, spent Friday evening with Mr. & Mrs. Harvey Tweddle. Mr. & Mrs. Stewart McIntosh and daughter Janice, Arkona, were dinner guests with Mr. & Mrs. Harvey Morley, Sunday. Glen Thompson arrived home from the hospital last week. George Prest and Elmer Shepherd visited with Bill Prest and Max Shepherd, Lindsay over the weekend. Mr, & Mrs. Cyril Morley were with Mr. & Mrs. Harvey Morley for dinner last Saturday evening. By MR. We extend our sympathy to the family and relatives of the late Jack Ross. Mrs. Ken Harrower is a patient in Victoria Hospital, Lon- don, Fred Leggate is a patient in University Hospital, London. It was decided to have the annual meeting next year the same Sunday. The reports were discussed. The two retiring stewards are Gordon McCarter and Glenn Rohde. David Passmore has been• elected for a member of the Board of Stewards but there are two new members to appoint as there had been a resignation. The members are as follows, Larry Ballantyne, Glen Stewart and Paul Passmore. Four members of the session have retired and resigned namely Arnold Cann, Floyd Stewart, Donald Kernick and Reg Hodgert. The new members elected are Barry Jeffery, John Pym, William Snow and Mrs. Glen Stewart. The other members are Mrs, Edwin Miller and Glenn Jeffery. The meeting closed with the Mizpah Benediction.
