The January meeting of Dash:
wood WI was held at the home of
Mrs. Verda Moulton with the
Family and Consumers group in
charge and Mrs. Stuart Wolfe,
convener. Mrs. Moulton and, her
daughter are ardent antique
collectors and the ladies gathered
around the fire place midst the
beautiful things on display.
President, Mrs. Gordon
Bender, presided for the opening
and business. Twenty-one
members answered the roll call
"Give your waistline
measurements in centimetres."
The ladies also brought buttons to
add to the hostess's fine collec-
tion. Leaders were discussed for
the new club for the 4-H girls,
"What shall I wear?"
There will be four cuchres,
January 21 and 28 and February
18 and 25. Greetings received
from other institutes were passed
around as was a card from
Brother Bob Mittleholz,
Mrs. Wolfe presided for the
program. Mrs. Glenn Webb
discussed the motto, "Feed the
family what they require, not
what they desire." Mrs. Irvin
Rader took for the topic Clothing
and Textiles. She had many in-
teresting pamphlets from the
loan library. Mrs. Donna
Hamather of Zurich gave an
interesting tips from the
Weightwatchers diary of which
she is a member.
During the social hour the
ladies were free to browse
through the house, Mrs. Sid
Baker thanked Mrs. Moulton for
her hospitality and a most in-
teresting evening.

Group 1 with Mrs. Lorne
Becker convener was in charge of
Devotions and lunch at
the January meeting of Zion
Lutheran Ladies Aid. The
president, Mrs. Arnold Becker
opened the meeting with scrip-
ture and prayer.
,Mrs, Hilda Rader assisted by
Mrs. Albert Miller as parent and
Mrs. Irvin Rader as the teenager,
took as the topic, "Bring up your
children." The audience also
participated in the discussion as
parent and teenager answered

CENTRALIA
The first meeting of the New
Year was held in the schoolroom
of the Centralia United Church on
January 9 with 15 UCW members
and two guests present.
Mrs. June Essery opened the
business with a reading on "The
Open Door", roll call was given
and fees were paid. Eight visits
were made and letters of thank
you were read for Christmas
remembrances. Annual reports
were heard.
Recommendations were read
for 1975 and a bus trip is planned
for July, a Royal Doulton show for
early spring and the UCW
meetings will be held now on the
second Thursday in the month.
Mrs. Alvin Lobb, Mrs. Earl
Dixon and Mrs. Ralph Lightfoot
were program conveners with the
theme "Whom do you serve."
Mrs. Alvin Lobb read the poem
"Let there be peace on Earth,"
The hymn "Dear Lord, Father of
Mankind" was sung by all.
Mrs. Alvin Lobb read the
scripture taken from Timothy. A
poem "What Love is" was read
by Mrs. Earl Dixon.
Standing at the Portals of
another year was sung by all,
followed with the poem "A New
Year's Wish" read by Mrs. Ralph
Lightfoot, A skit "Tell me Doc-
tor" was enacted by nine ladies,
assessing the work of the UCW.
Lunch was served by the com-
mittee in charge,
CGIT enjoy sleigh ride
The CGIT met at the home of
Mr. & Mrs. Robert Tindall on
Tuesday evening of last week and
from there went on a sleigh riding
party.

Mrs. Ray Regular returned
home last week following a trip to
questions on the home, church,
and people.
Mrs. Becker conducted the
business, Several donations and
cards of thanks were received.
The Altar Guild reported 17 visits
and 26 shut-in boxes packed. The
new Guild is Mrs. Bill Berends
and Mrs. Oscar Miller. Following
closing Devotions by Mrs.. Lorne
Becker, lunch was served.

Germany where she was visiting
with relatives, She says the
weather in Germany was unusual
for this time of year with tulips,
roses and carnations in bloom.
Mr. & Mrs. Clarence McDowell
returned home last week
following an enjoyable vacation
at Singer Island off the coast of
Florida. They made the trip by
plane.
Mr. & Mrs. Leonard Bender of
Kitchener were Sunday visitors
with the former's sister and
brother-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Fred
Cunninghton.
Mr. & Mrs. Roland Saunders of
Corner Brook, Newfoundland
were visitors for a few days last
week at the home of their nephew
and niece, Mr. & Mrs. Ray
Regular.
Mr. & Mrs. Sherman Eaton and
family of Chatham were weekend
visitors with Mr. & Mrs. John
Thompson.
Mr. & Mrs. Russell Wilson and
family attended a party in
Arkona on Sunday for Mrs. G.
Yorke in celebration of her 90th
birthday.

dinner guests at the home of Mr.

of Kirkton. It was a birthday
celebration for Mrs. Wm. Allison,

the meeting in the Community
Centre on Monday afternoon.
Broncos posi
atom victory
The Exeter Broncos had little
trouble in posting a 9-1 victory
over Strathroy in Shamrock
league atom division play
Monday night.
Bill Glover, Dave Shaw and
David Underwood were the top
marksmen for the Broncos with
two goals .apiece. Scoring in
single fashion were Scott Pin-
combe, Mark Vandergunst and
Tom Coates. Pincombe and
Glover also picked up two
assists each.
