Lucan church news United The Sacrament of Holy Communion was celebrated on Sunday at the United Church with Rev. Ewart Madden conducting the service. The beautiful gospel hymn "He Leadeth Me" was sung by the choir, The Junior and Senior Choirs recommence rehearsals at 7 and 8 p.m. respectively on Thursdays and new members are welcome. Rehearsals commence tonight, Thursday, at 9 a.m. for the "Bach Cantata" and all singers in the community are invited to share in this production. A box will be placed in the vestibule of the Church this week for Christmas cards and used stamps. Please save yours. The Annual Congregational Meeting will be held Sunday, January 26 after worship, with a "finger pot-luck" luncheon. Everyone interested in Lucan United Church is welcome. All women of the congregation are reminded of the U.C.W. General Meeting on Tuesday at the Church at 8 p.m. The program will be on the 50th Anniversary theme. Also members and friends of the Friendship Unit are reminded of their first meeting of the new year, at the Church on Wed- nesday at 8:30 p.m. Pentecostal Holiness Monday evening, December 30 the Annual Fellowship Party was held in the Church with scripture quiz games, and a musical program. Gifts of money, food, etc. were presented to Roger and Carol Mason, Bill Cochrane and Robert Holland as they return to their various schools. Lunch was served 'by members of the W.A. and the' Young Peoples' group. At a New Year's Eve Candle Light Service Joan Lockyer and Kathy Hopps sang a duet and Joan also sang a solo accompanying both on her guitar. Roger Mason and Bill Cochrane gave 5 minute ser- monettes and Rev. Ray Brewster spoke from Ezekiel 47: 1-9 saying that many people have become Christians but never lose sight of the old worldly pleasures and fall back. At the Sunday services John Armitage led in the song services, In the morning Mr. Brewster spoke from Matthew 10: 1-8 stating that "Just as Jesus sent out His disciples to minister and preach to others, so we are to go out to minister 'and witness to those around us. At the evening service Marlene Butler was the soloist and Mr. Brewsterspoke from Phi1,3:13-14, saying that to be victorious Christians we must forget the past and keep our eyes on Jesus and His calling for us.
