It's Christmas eve,
Can you believe!
And you sing songs,
And ride along,
On the white stuff on the ground.
Tomorrow you will see,
What's in the boxes under the
tree.

looked in, expecting to see happy
faces around a brighly decorated
Christmass tree. But all they
saw was a small family huddled
around a weak fire, slowly
flickering, burning down to
ashes. There wasn't any Christ-
mas tree in the room nor any
warm glows on the children. Sam
and Sandy felt sorry for the fami-
ly and they felt that they had to
do something about it.
Then Sam came up with an
idea! He whispered it to Sandy
and they raced off to find Jack
Frost. They told Jack the idea
and he went right to work. Next
morning was Christmas Eve and
the family woke up and came out
to the living room. They looked
at the window beside the
fireplace and found a beautiful
frost painting on it! The father
was an artist and he hurried
down to the cellar to get his easel
and paints. He ran upstairs with
them and started to paint the
frost picture. When it was finish-
ed, he sold it and got fifty dollars
for it.
When Sam and Sandy came
back to see.what was happening,

Merry. Christmas after all!

By LINDA WILSON

As the clock struck twelve on
that different Christmas Eve
All the children were asleep in
bed, I'd managed to achieve,
I told them about St. Nicholas,
which I never had believed,
As I put the presents 'round the
tree on Christmas Eve.
But as I started through the door
of the living room,
Santa in a motor car came,
vroom, vroom, vroom,
I stared wide-eyed at Santa, in
his hand a broom,
As he swept the soot up that he'd
spread around the room.
I looked inside his motor car and
what I saw,
The reindeer in his backseat I
stared in awe,
Then Santa took old Rudolph's
brown and aging paw,
I stared unbelievingly at what I
saw.
The Santa turned and with a jerk
as the story goes,
Up the chimney went, his car out
into the snow,
Into the night doing his job, out
in the cold,
"Dash away, dash away, dash
away all as the story goes.
A Christmas gift from Sam the snowflake
