A gift from God

In a little igloo up north lived a
cheerful old, old man and woman
who often longed for a child.
Nearer and nearer Christmas
came and still they had no
children. They now started to
make lovely gifts for each other.
After they were made they were
set under a decorated tree. When
Christmas had come they went
to bed with low hearts.
On Christmas morning there
was joy and happiness in the lit-
tle igloo for lying on a torn sack
was a baby boy.
The new parents gave thanks
to God and called their new baby
Christ because it was born on his
birthday.

THE CHRISTMAS WITCH
By KATHY GIFFIN
Precious Blood
To Melinda, Christmas was the
most exciting event she had ever
heard of, but since she was a
witch her traditions were against
it. When she was alone, she
would sing softly the joyful
Christmas hymns she had heard
the Williwonkas and the
Tinglongoes sing.
Now, in the country where
Melinda lived there was the Land
of the Williwonkas and the Land
of the Tinglongoes, These two
clans were born enemies and
they would never be caught
together, They only way to dis-
tinguish the difference between
them was by their outfits. While
the Tinglongoes were clothed
merry polka dots the
Williwonkas strutted about in
bright coloured stripes.
Because of her feelings toward
Christmas, Melinda cancelled
her yearly trip to the cemetary

Santa will have
trouble at my house
r. By KINDERGARTEN B
Usborne
Meery, merry, Santa Claus
How does your garden grow,
With presents, and toys for
girls and boys
And reindeers all in a row.
Santa Claus will have trouble
When he comes to my house,
because.
Chris - We just have a furnace
and he'll never get down our
chimney.
Shelly - We don't even have a
chimney. He'll have to go in
and out our door.
Rodger - SometimeI'm going to
sleep downstairs and then I'll
hear Santa Claus when he
comes.
Michael - If Santa comes down
our chimney he'll land up in
our dryer.
Jeannette - He can't come
through our chimney because
it's too skinny.
on Hallowe'en and costumed
herself in a gay red dress and hat
just to get in the mood for Christ-
mas. As she was skipping about
the land she discovered a huge
old inn which was merely taking
up space. She decided that if she
fixed it up it would be a heaven
on earth,
Melinda set about sweeping
the floors, dusting the furniture
and removing cobwebs from the
corners of the ceiling. When her
task was completed she
wandered in and out the many
rooms admiring their beauty. As
time passed she stepped into a
large high ceilinged room. The
floor, walls and ceiling were a
golden-brown in colour. When
she spied the huge table and the
empty corner a fantastic idea
entered her mind, This idea was
to throw a Christmas party and
invite the Tinglongoes and the
Williwonkas.
Although there was less than
two months until Christmas,
Melinda began her plans at once,
She placed colourful lights on the
trees in front of the inn, hung a
beautiful wreath on the great
wooden door and from corner to
corner of the great room she
suspended streamers of all
colours. The weeks flew by and it
was now December 18. Melinda
decided that it was time to get a
tree. She searched continuously
in the forest until she discovered
the perfect tree and when she did
she chopped it down and took it
home.
When she arrived at the inn
Melinda stood the tree in the cor-
ner of the large room. She then
trimmed it with strings of pop-
corn and candies, also many
sparkling ornaments. When this
job was completed she sent out
