"In other words, let the board
review first and the committees
respond to the direction of the

times to establish ad hoc com-

This has been done before and
there is no reason why it cannot
be continued into the future.
Mr. Hill continued, "One thing
is important. All trustees must be
given an opportunity for active
participation and it is not a good
idea to load committees with a lot
of routine items which tend to

Christmas is the time of year
To send your cards of joy and
cheer
To singcarols on cold winter
Arid to think of Santa's merry
flights
People dance at Christmas time
People make up silly little
rhymes
People put up gay Christmas
trees
And Churches have decorating
bees.
People love this joyous season
And tell you the reason
Christ the King, was, born this
.day
To guide us in a christian way.

As the Monday meeting of the
Huron Board of Education
concluded Cayley Hill asked the
retiring trustees to speak.
John Broadfoot of Brucefield
spoke of his 25 years on school
boards and recommended his
successor, Robert Peck, who has
had school board experience.
Donald McDonald of Brussels
said he felt a turnover of board
members was wise. John Hen-
derson asked the board members
to compare the committee
system and the monthly meeting
to the 1971 twice-monthly
meetings.
Mr. Hill told the three. "we
shall miss you very much in-
deed" and spoke of the con-
tribution each had made over the
ears. and then welcomed the
new members.
He asked for a vote of con-
fidence for the administration
and the board members rose to
their feet as they applauded
Mr. Hill.. in his closing
remarks, spoke of the progress
made by the board over the
years, especially in the improved
relations with the teaching staff
He spoke of the review and
revising of board policies which
have improved the system and
made the handling of many items
ni• business reutine.
Mr Hill said he had been an
advocate of the committee
system and still is with some
reservatiensHe said he thought
the method of operation by
committee had been correct to
date but wondered if changes
should be considered,
He suggested a continuance of
a form of committee system but
with, a basic change. instead of
the board responding to
recommendations of the com-
mittees on a variety of subjects.
perhaps it would be better for the
board to consider all items of
business first and then delegate
to one committee or the other if
required. The committee then
would investigate and provide
further information on subtects

Hi! I used to know Santa. and
he's pretty strange. Honest' I
studied him and his habits. his
own does and dont's. I studied
him very closely, I first met San-
ta at Miami Beach t he loves the
tropicse. He finds giving out
presents is a drag, but it's a job
that needs to be done.
Santa Claus is opposite they
say he is, for instance he told me
he hates the North pole. Santa is
a rich guy. He has an indoor
swimming pool. his private
health spa. sauna bath and other
things along the line.
Some people say he has long
white hair and a beastly beard.
That's not true. His hair is so
short he makes Kojak and Yul.
Brenner look like members of
the Beatles.
He is fat though. in fact he is so
fat he gets claustrophobia in a
gymnasium. They also say he
comes down the chimney. He.
couldn't fit in a silo let alone a
chimney. Santa's O.K. But next
time you see a flash of crimson
red and cotton white go by. look
closely
FIRE
It is our sincere hope that the joyous
spirit of this happiest of all holidays
will light up your home and your
heart with peace and good will.
May we respectfully request that
you be very careful with your
Christmas decorations to avoid a
tragic fire which could spoil the
festive season ahead, Yours for
better service.
