pearance of Santa who, together
with her helper, distributed gifts

members of the Executive who
worked very hard to make the
party so very successful. Also to
Laureen who opened her home
and made us welcomne and for
all the work she did. We ap-
preciate this very much. Also
thanks to Santa and her helper
who mingled and jingled so well,

The Tops. Christmas party was
held at the home of the leader,
Laureen McKenzie, with a good
attendance. The highlight of the
evening was the presentation of
awards.
Rhea Markus was honoured as
Queen of our Chapter for the year
1974 with a loss of 491/4 pounds,
She was crowned by last year's
Queen and was presented with a
lovely gift, also an enlarged
picture of herself taken when she
first joined Tops. Our
congratulations to Rhea and a
hearty welcome to the KOPS
family,
Other girls awarded gifts for
their efforts were: Bobbye
VanPraet for highest loser for a
six month period from July to
December. Runner-up in this
contest was Elveria McCafferty.
Both of these girls also won the
Knothole contest which ended in
a tie, Calorie sheet contest was
won by Pat Vance. There was

Wednesday night marked the
beginning of a coaching change
as Bob Bogden left and Reg
Whaley took over and the Lucan
Irish responded.as they plastered
the Strathroy Falcons 17-6.
Lucan was never in trouble as
they led 6-0 after one period of
play and 11-3 after the second.
Captain Mike McIntyre led the
Irish with three goals and four
assists while Brian McNeil, Mike
Wraith, Jim Maguire, Craig
Corman, Brad Taylor and Ed
Robb added two goals each with
Randy Kraul and Ron Funston
each scoring singles. Lucan took
7 of 11 penalties and outshot the
visitors 57-38.
Friday night the Irish travelled
to Seaforth and were defeated 6-2.
Randy Funston opened the
scoring at 1:28 for the Irish with
Craig Corman assisting. Seaforth
evened the score only to have
Lucan tie it late in the period with
Mike McIntyre scoring from
Funston and Corman.
With 22 seconds left in the first
period Seaforth took the lead
again, this time for good. Lucan
took 9 of 17 penalties including a
misconduct.

Ho Jo's
Wednesday night the Lucan Ho
Jo's were trounced 17-2 by
Petrolia in a game played in
Petrolia. Bob Evans accounted
for both Lucan goals.
Monday night the visiting
Belmont team defeated the Ho
Jo's by a 3-1 score. Belmont drew
first blood only to have Lucan
even the score on a powerplay
goal by Bob Evans assisted by
Jim Hearn. Belmont scored the
eventual winning goal in the
second period and scored the lone
goal in the third period.
Atoms
The Atoms dropped a pair of
games over the weekend, losing
4-1 to Belmont Saturday af-
ternoon and 5-1 to Ilderton on
Sunday. Steven Glenn scored
both Lucan's goals.
The Sabres defeated the Aces 8-
4 in bantam play with Jim Allison
and Colin Wildfong leading the
Sabres with two goals each while
singles went to Dale Cook, John
Toonders, Leroy Siddall and
Chris Hayes. Brent Stainten
scored two goals to lead the Aces
with Andrew Spruyt and Mark
Cleland adding the singles.
In pee-wee play the Raiders
defeated the Bombers 6-2; the
Barons shutout the Blazers 6-0
and in the third game the
Thunderbirds edged the Lions 1-
0.
Al Maslen and Craig DeGraw
accounted for the Raider's goals
as each contributed three goals
while Ray Thompson and Doug
Cook scored for the Bombers.
Henry Giesen and Greg Fisher
led the Barons with two goals
each while Chris Sockett and
Robert Brintnell added singles.
Miuke Orooz picked up the
shutout.
Don Hardie scored the lone
goal in the Thunderbird-Lions
game while Dave DeBoer
recorded the shutout.
In atom play the Wildcats
edged out the Bears 2-1 and the

Friday Lucan and Ilderton
Midgets battled to a 4-4 tie.
Ilderton scored first only to have
Lucan come roaring back with
three straight goals for a 3-1 lead
after the first period, Gord Moon
accounted for the first two Lucan
goals with Cecil Nickles assisting
on the first and Jim Benn on the
second. Benn scored the other
first period goal with Moon
assisting.
Ilderton scored three unan-
swered goals in the second period
for a 4-3 lead only to have Gord
Moon give Lucan the tie with his
third goal of the game, a solo
effort in the third period. Lucan
took 9 of 16 penalties.

"Little Boy Jesus," accompanied

Jamie Shipley scored with Bob
Green and Paul Wraith assisting.
Ilderton then took a 2-1 lead and
appeared to have the game won
but Lucan struck with 15 seconds
remaining in the game as Paul
Wraith gave Lucan the tie with

Pageant will be presented by
children of church families on
Christmas eve, in the Church, at
7:30, with the Junior and Senior
choirs participating.
At 11 p.m. there will be a
Service of Silent Communion
with instrumental music.

Legion kids
enjoy Santa
One hundred children with
many of their parents gathered at
the Legion Hall for the annual
Christmas party sponsored by
Branch 540. A half hour of car-
toons was enjoyed and each child
under 8 years' of age received a
gift from Santa Claus, with a
personal handshake, while all
children received bags of candy.
A good time was enjoyed by
members and guests alike.
The men's group of Branch 540
would like to invite everyone to
their annual "fowl bingo" in the
lower hall on Saturday,
December 21, commencing at 8
p.m.

Two bylaws were passed at the
December meeting of the Council
of the village of Lucan which was
held on Tuesday December 3.
A bylaw regulating the use of
land and the erection and use of
buildings in the village of Lucan
was passed.
A bylaw was also passed
authorizing all persons owning or
occupying a building, that by
inadvertence has been wholly or
partially erected on a highway, to
maintain and use such
building.
A letter was sent to the
Township of March concurring
with their resolution regarding
the recycling of currently
unavoidable glass waste.
Harry Wraith was authorized
to contact Trackless Vehicle Ltd.
to secure information regarding
equipment to plough the new
streets.
A letter was received from
Waghorn and Stephens with
regard to a bylaw to be drawn up

Couples club
enjoy party
The Christian Education, lower
floor, was beautifully decorated
for the annual Couples' Club
Christmas Party, on Thursday
evening. A turkey & ham supper,
with the balance of the meal "pot
luck" was enjoyed by the
members, at tables covered with
Christmas tableclothes with
lighted candle centerpieces.
The evening was planned by
the following committee mem-
bers, Rev. & Mrs. Ewart Mad-
den, Mr. & Mrs. Robert Pat-
terson, Mr. & Mrs. Harold
Cobleigh and Mr, & Mrs. Ernie
Ross.
Mr. Ross played his mandolin
for the singing of carols leading
into a Christmas Service of
Worship, with Mrs. Cobleigh at
the piano for more carols.
The 1975 officers were installed
as follows: honorary presidents,
The Maddens; past presidents,
The Don Maguires; presidents,
The Lockyers; vice-presidents,
the McLeans; secretaries, the
Melansons ; treasurers, the Robt.
Pattersons and membership the
Rosses.
Names had been drawn for
gifts and each member was
asked to write a poem to suit the
recipient of his gift. Ed.
Melanson read the poems, most
of them very humorous, while
Don Maguire acted as Santa
Claus and distributed the gifts.
Energetic and fun games were
enjoyed by all. Lunch concluded
the evening.

by the Executive between the
entertainment and the business
meeting in order that the girls
could get home.
During the business meeting,
chaired by Mrs, Sheridan
Revington, payment was ap-
proved for material for Banners
and for tentest for bulletin
boards. A donation of $10.00 was
voted to the War Memorial
Children's Hospital and it was
decided that any articles left
,t.-.from the Bazaar, which were
suitable, would be included with
the White Gift bale.
Mrs. Jack Ryan agreed to be
the new card sales person and her
telephone number is now 227-

Seniors make
scrap books
The members of the "Busy
Buddies" craft group of the
Senior Citizens Club put aside
their liquid embroidery on
Thursday afternoon in order to do
a service project - making small
scrap books from greeting cards
for the little patients at the War
Memorial Children's Hospital,
London.
The Sunshine Club, meanwhile,
played euchre with Mrs. Joe
Carter and Mr. Stewart Munro
winning high score and Mrs.
Cecil Armitage and Mr. Alonzo
Phillips low.
Birthday greetings were ex-
tended to Mrs. Donald Allen and
Mrs. Cecil Armitage.
A reading "The Priceless Gift
of Christmas" was given by Mrs.
Gordon Hotson and lunch was
served by Mrs. Carter, Mrs,
Frank Jolliffe and Mrs. Wm.
Salter.

attends WI
Twenty-three members of the
Lucan Women's Institute met for
their Christmas meeting on
Wednesday in the Masonic Hall,
commencing with a pot luck
luncheon at 12:30.
Immediately following the
luncheon Mrs. Santa Claus
arrived, complete in red coat and
feathered hat (Mrs. Frank Hardy
Sr.) and amid much hilarity
distributed the "secret friend"
gifts. Names were drawn for the
1975 "secret friends" and the roll
call was answered by presenting
a "white gift" to be taken to the
House of Concord. Many
members also gave readings,
etc., as part of the program.
Mrs. Harold Cobleigh gave a
most interesting report of the
area convention held recently in
Stratford and pointed out the
value of learning more about
nutrition. A workshop on this
topic will be held in the London
area early in the New Year.
Mrs. Cecil Robb and Mrs.
Frank Jolliffe, Branch Directors,
read articles from the Consumer
Magazine pointing out the value
of each member having the op-
portunity of reading the
magazines as they come. A
system of rotation will be worked
out.
The January meeting will be
held at the home of Mrs. John
Park on the third Wednesday
with Mrs. Glen Haskett as
program convener.
