Hensall WI hold Christmas meeting The Christmas meeting of the Hensall WI was held Wednesday evening in a beautifully decorated Legion Hall. President Hilda Payne welcomed members and guests and the meeting open- ed in the usual form. The roll call was answered by twenty members with "the best Christ- mas gift I ever received," Secretary Janis I3isback read the minutes of the November meeting. After a quick exit, the Guides reappeared, transformed into candle-bearing angels, humble shepherds, wisemen and the Holy family to present an im- pressive play "The coming of the King," narrated by Vicki Mann, The choir of angels, accom- panied on the piano by Mrs. Joyce Pepper, sang the ap- propriate Christmas carols as the play proceeded. Mrs. E. Luther concluded the program with an inspiring prayer in front of the Nativity Tableau. The Guides then graciously and proudly served coffee and their own home baked cookies to the mothers present. Women's groups hold Christmas parties the Home Economist Jane Pengilley, a letter from Eric Luther announcing that the CNIB canvass had been a success, a thank you note from Hilda Payne. It was requested that leaders and assistants are still needed for the next 4-H club coming up in the spring. Jessie McAllister reported for the birthday party held at. Huron- view in November, and also gave a report of the Hoard meeting held in November, and read a letter from Brother Bob in India, bringing us up to date of the proceedings and happenings there. Treasurer Marg Ingram gave the financial report. Program convener was Grace Peck. Everyone enjoyed a carol sing with Myrtle Sherritt at the piano. Earle Shapter favoured everyone with a vocal solo "Whispering Hope," accompanied on the piano by Joyce Pepper, Grace Peck introduced Mrs. Tove Bell who told everyone about Christ- mas in Denmark. She showed a decorated Christmas tree and other decorations, and also told about the menu for the Christ- mas dinner. Grace also in- troduced Mrs. Tomkins, who owns a Hobby Shop north of Brucefield. She showed and demonstrated Punch em- broidery, and also showed different designs to make up for Christmas. Courtesy remarks were given by Elsie Carlile. Legion auxilliary install member The December meeting of the Hensall Ladies Legion Auxiliary was held December 3. President Wanda McClinchey presided. Past President, Mildred Chalmers installed Kathleen Geiger, as a new member. Plans were finalized for the New Years dance. The Auxiliary and Legion members are spon- soring a children's Christmas party for members on December 22. Mildred Chalmers won the mystery prize, and Wanda McClinchey the guessing prize. The money doll draw will be held on December 21. &wed gew4 United Church Steven Gerstenkorn lit the 3rd Advent candle at the White Gift service in Hensall United Church on Sunday morning. The choir sang the anthem "Hallelujah", and Rev. Don Beck preached on the sermon topic "Christmas 50 years' ago" and told the story "Once upon a Christmas". Portions of Scripture from Matthew were read by Jo-Ann Pepper and Vicki Mann. The baskets of flowers were from the funerals of Cornelius Faber and Earl Soldan. Sunday evening a Christmas carol Service under the guidance of the Hensall Choir was held, Sunday, December 22 will be the Christmas Sunday Service and December 24 will be the Christmas Eve Communion service. Presbyterian news Rev. W. D. Jarvis conducted service in Carmel Presbyterian church on Sunday. The choir under the direction of the organist Mrs. Malcolm Dougall sang "0 Holy Night." Next Sunday at 11:15 a.m. the Sabbath School members will lead the service with Christmas music. Miss Linda Bell will preside at the organ. The choir was pleasant]yu entertained at the home of Mr, & Mrs. Malcolm Dougall following the service on Sunday morning.
