romped over the Woodstock
Royals 9-2.

and passing efforts of the year.
Dave Bogart who was the
scoring star for the Exeter club
with two goals started the game
counting with a screened shot
from the left side. Paul and Perry
Pooley drew assists.
After St. Thomas took a 2-1 lead
early in the second period,
Exeter's second goal came on a
picture passing play,
It started with Ron Bilcke
hitting Dave Bogart at the centre
red line, The puck then went to
Paul Pooley and on to Perry
Pooley who had sneaked behind
the St. Thomas defence and he
promptly scored.
Bogart notched the final Exeter
goal with about four minutes left
in the game. He was in the right
spot to deflect Ron Bilcke's slap
shot into the net. Steve Skinner
also assisted.
On the defensive side of things,
Dave Atthill turned in a strong
game at the blue line and goalies
Ted Triebner and Paul Gaiser
were strong throughout.
Exeter clubs suffered three
losses in a Shamrock league "A"
tripleheader played in Lambeth,
Friday night.
The Exeter pee wees were
edged 2-1 in the bantam game
which ended 3-2 in favour of
Lambeth and the midget score
was 5-4 for the home team.
The Exeter midget scoring was
well spread around with John
Van Gerwen, Phil Knight, Paul
Shapton and Ken Pinder firing
successful shots.
Doug Osgood picked up three
assists to lead in the point
department. Other assists went
to Brian Harrell, Brian Clarke,
Paul Shapton and Peter Kincaid.
In the pee wee game Lambeth
took a 2-0 lead in the first period
and the only Exeter marker
came with only 10 seconds left in
the game.
Doug Brooks was the Exeter
sharpshooter on a play originated
by Wayne Parsons and Mark
Parsons.
The bantam game saw an
Exeter 2-1 lead at the end of the
second period disappear with
Lambeth scoring two unan-
swered goals in the final frame.
The first Exeter score came at
8:08 of the initial session from the
stick of Randy Parsons during a
goal-mouth scramble. Ron Bilcke
and Brian Mercer assisted,
After Lambeth had tied the
score at 5:33 of the second period
it took Preston Dearing 42
seconds to put his team back into
the lead.
Dearing banged the puck into
the net on the rebound on a shot
by Paul Van Gerwen.
The Lambeth bantams have
won only two games this year and
both have been against Exeter.
In a second start this week the
Exeter bantams dropped a 5-3
decision in St. Thomas Saturday.

Take advantage
In the win over Woodstock
Sunday, the Jets took advantage
of power play opportunities
scoring four times while the
opposition was short handed.
With the score tied at 2-2 in the
Second period, Dan Pringle of the
Royals received two highsticking
penalties and the Jets went right
to work with Bill Fairbairn and
Steve Proctor hitting the mark.
Don Carter and Rick Fifield led
the overall Jets scoring attack
with a pair of successful shots
each.
Checking in with one goal each
were Jamie Robb, Dick Doughty
and Barry Baynham in addition
to the power play scores by
Fairbairn and Proctor.
The Jets were without playing
coach Jack Nairn, Bill Dunnell,
Rick Campbell and Jim Blake for
the Woodstock contest,
Manager Don Urbshott handled
the coaching duties in the ab,
sense of Nairn who was on an out-
of-town business trip.
Haugh scores twice
Former Exeter junior Hawks
captain Larry Haugh was the top
scorer for the L-I club in the win
over Durham with a two goal
effort.
Durham notched the only goal
of the first period when Joel
McCrae put the puck past Lorne
Daer in the Jets net.
At 2.39 of the middle frame,
Haugh tied the score as he
whacked in a rebound on a play
started by Dick Doughty and Don
Carter.
Shorlty after the midway mark
of the second period veteran
Doug Galloway carried the puck
the length of the ice to split the
Durham defence and put the puck
on Rick Fifield's stick for a goal.
Jack Nairn also assisted.
Before the period was over the
Jets were in front 3-1 as Dick
Doughty completed a three-way
combination with Don Carter and
Steve Proctor.
The fourth and fifth Jet goals
came in the last four minutes of
play. Larry Haugh scored on
passes from Don Carter and Dick
Doughty and Steve Proctor
registered with help from Jim
Blake.
As Blake carried the puck over
the blueline he was slashed by
Terry Keeling of the Huskies but
was able to complete the scoring
play,
At the completion of the goal a
fight took place between the two.
Keeling was given a game
misconduct. It was his second of
the seasOn and will likely result in
a three game suspension.
Earlier in the game, Rick
Fifield and Barry Baynham of
the Jets and Joe Grundy and
Drew Haldane of Durham were
sent off for fighting.
Play early in the second period
featured excellent goal tending
by Lorne Daer as Steve Proctor
and Jack Nairn took penalties at
5:10 and 6:29 respectively and
the Huskies were unable to score,
Shortly after. Daer was injured
and he was replaced by Sonny
Pennington. The Jets outshot the
Huskies 41-28.
