Hay restrict
load limits
Hay township passed a bylaw
at the December meeting
restricting the load limit on the
bridge at Lot 3, Concession 4-5 to
eight tons. The bridge is located
about a mile north of Highway 83,
north of the Exeter dump
location.
Council endorsed a resolution
from the township of March
asking government authorities to
standardize all glass containers
making them returnable.
Two building permit ap-
plications were approved.
Permission was granted to Ivan
Kalbfleisch to build a house of
part of Lot 21, Concession 11, just
west of the Zurich village limits.
The second permit was for a
drive-in restaurant for Theo Van
Rompe in the police village of
Dashwood. The application was
approved by the Dashwood board
of trustees.
Council decided not to enter
into an agreement with the town
of Exeter regarding residents of
Hay using the new senior citizens
housing units which are now
under construction,

While some internal problems
have arisen regarding the New
Horizons project at the local
bowling green clubhouse, the
project is progressing quite well.
That was the information gar-
nered at Exeter's RAP com-
mittee meeting this week.
Three groups - the euchre
club, bowling club and New
Horizons Group 1 - joined forces
to secure the $5,000 grant to un-
dertake an addition and
renovations at the clubhouse.
It was indicated that some
problem existed in keeping the
lines of communication open
between all three groups and rec
director Jim McKinlay said this
week there were some personali-
ty conflicts as well.
Some of the delays have been
created due to the fact that much
of the labour is being provided on
a voluntary basis,
"You can't tell them when they
have to work," Bob Pooley ex-
plained to his fellow RAP
members,
However, he said he thought
the matter would be resolved and
that the project would be com-
pleted in the near future.
At the same time, he predicted
some further problems and
suggested RAP would have to
decide what uses would be made
of the enlarged facilities.
He said the facilities would
have to be made available to
other community groups and
RAP would have to establish
some guidelines in this regard.
